Z5 Default Apps

Hi

Am wondering if any new Z5 owners may share if it has the following functions by default?

1. Automatic phone recording
2. Quick video recording access

I am thinking of making a switch but having owned the Arc S, I am not sure if I want to give Sony another try.

I read the fine print for the Z5 waterproof and they actually do not recommend using it in chlorinated water or sea water so the IP rating is really protection from rain and accidents.

SONY may sell their mobile unit if the Z5 is not able to hep them turn a profit in 2015/2016.

I am currently using ZenFone 6 and I love the screen size, automatic call recording, and pretty responsive camera.

That is mainly "cover our @$$" statements. It wokrs perfectly fin even in swimming pools, but the ingress pressure may exceed IP68 ratings if you slam it into the water hard enough (hence the disclaimer).

As for "Sony may sell their mobile unit" - That's NOT what they said. They said they may seek alternative partnerships. Also:

They're building a new smartphone factory. Doesn't sound like a sell-off. :)

Quick video recording: Yeah, you can use the camera widget, easy as heck.
Voice recording: Not sure, as this actually is a violating of multiple european and US laws. Asus just doesn't care about privacy laws.

Phone call recordings are not per installed on sony phones. However there are third party apps to go about.

Sony z series phone have a dedicated camera button. Pressing that in standby mode , will quick launch to camera. You can choose it to launch and capture video immediately.

Can try it at any sony center.

Water proofing is tricky issue. None of any manufacturer did it better than sony, and still there are many many complications when it comes to water proofing.

I think the key sony wants to put across, is to prevent over abusing of its water proofing capabilities.

Great to learn they are committed to the mobile business.

It was announced that 2016 is the Make or Break year for them before they announced the Thailand factory.

Singapore has not privacy laws and I think it is a great feature to have especially when dealing with people who are less honest. ha ha... it is a cover my ass move so that I would not be accused of saying something I did not.

Would like to know the sauce too! Just took a look at the SmartBand 2 reviews. Finally a decent waterproof smart wear with constant HR monitoring! so many HR smart wears in the market are just water resistant. can't swim or shower with it.. Well the downside will be its 2 days battery life (HR disabled 5 days).

Just wait though... Till people start complaining about the battery life and saying "I should have gotten the green Z5!!"
