Mix mode only is to optimize price/performance.best performance is always=use the most expensive available solution!

I prefer more storage space than faster speed. I can wait 5-10 secs more for transferring files. But i cannot live with little storage space.

More storage space means u need a NAS

But if you look at read its even slower than many nvme SSD. Write is just 280MB/s, even slower than SATA SSD.

The beauty of XPoint is more of the improved response time. Current range of NVME SSDs mainly focuses on transfer rate, which is less beneficial for most users unless you transfer large files often.

Unfortunately, I do agree that selling this as a hard disk cache is quite silly in a time when SSDs are significantly more affordable. It works few years back when SSD is still not affordable. Currently, I am happy to wait few more milliseconds instead of spending extra few hundred bucks to buy this hard disk cache and also to upgrade my motherboard and CPU to use it.

Looks strange they're not pitching consumer optane memory against NVMe SSDs despite claiming better low Queue Depth performance.

And the positioning of Optane SSDs in the pyramid suggests shocking value.

500GB or higher NVMe SSDs at sinkee ~60c per gb might be a better choice overall.

When it comes to big vendors' products, LTT these days are just another channel sellout like any other, no different from TastyPC. People who tell the audience as it is like Louis Rossmann are definitely relatable and a breath of fresh air.
