I don't think they will run out of yen as the rate didn't plummet. Has it gone down? Definitely, from 11.9x to 11.6 is quite a small drop.

just remember to have your ID with you, for them to photocopy. so far never really hear JPY oos. anyway there's more than one shop there.

Should be fine, and bigger amount typically gets better rates as well.
