Please check the stores @ Arcade carefully. A long queue does not equate to the best rate.

I got my money changed at a store with no queue - and yet had best rate! haha

long queue sometimes due to other currencies having good rate but not jpy...

i usually toggle between sheen (long queue usually), hassan and MLJ (shorter queue usually).

Changed at Lucky Plaza at 84.1 rate.

Not too bad because I don't work in RP, so can't go to Arcade easily.

Anyway, the difference is about $13 for each $1,000 changed for each full digit jump from 83 to 84 to 85 and so on.

Hmmm, forgot the name, but I'll try and describe lol, typically they always give me the best rate in LP and sometimes on par with Arcade online rates.

It's like one level above McDonalds, the one OPPOSITE the watch shop, not beside. There are 2 money changers kinda facing each other, but it's the one opposite the watch shop.

Thanks for the regular updates guys, do keep everyone posted on this thread to inform us of the fluctuating JPY forex that you have spotted at your regular friendly money changers.

@Gixxerfied: Yup I saw the related CNA news article that evening after you posted your msg. Seems that MAS is trying to ease the monetary policy for next week's meeting as their decision, citing that faltering global growth and slower employment growth in SG as one of the key considerations.

Not too sure if that's a good thing, as I am quite sure that easing Sing dollar will probably mean a higher depreciating exchange rate against foreign currencies like JPY. But my guess is BOJ may have some movements as well due to Abenomics plan so we shall see.

Actually I have a habit of following very big-name audio & camera maker companies in JP with their policy changes/product releases, and from my personal observations because of Japan's current weakening economy over the past 12 mths, there have actually been some very drastic changes being made to their domestic prices, as many popular japanese manufacturers were bumping up their MSRP for their merchandises very gradually over the last 12 mths, in order to self-adjust to the manufacturing costs and on-going exports demand overseas. Depending on BOJ's policy and the yen weakening or strengthening changes, I would say all these will actually affect the prices of domestic merchandise goods in some ways.

Cheers.

Just checking anyone changed at mustafa before? The rates are slightly worse off than arcade and seems to be operating 24hrs? Probably getting from there as the hours suit me.

Think fountain money changer at marina square offers better rates. Closes at 8pm iirc. Later than arcade.

Yeah I work odd hours though so no choice even though fountain is nearby. Just changed at mustafa at 11.84, approx 84.46 for current spot at 85. Arcade should be slightly better but this is good for me, no queue, fuss free!

Hey, that's a pretty decent rate. Maybe I should go mustafa also. Lol
