Yet another new computer build thread

looking through the threads, seems that i5-6500 is enough for my gaming needs (use BF1 as reference). Not going to do OC. Just need to confirm the mobo...

I would like to have front usb3 ports, as I have ext drives lying around with usb3 connectors. Other than that... nothing else really. I assume all mobos now have soundcard... with that in mind, any reasons why I shouldn't just get the cheapest? I believe for ASUS, that would be H110M-A/M.2

If not, what is recommended?

GFX. Probably 1060. Was thinking 6g version. 3g was already recommended for BF4, so just getting a 3g doesn't seem very future proof. For less than 100 more, 6g seems to be the way to go. Not sure what brand to go for though.
Cheaper ones seem to be ASUS, PALIT and ZOTAC (on PCtheme price list). I have bad luck with MSI, so that's out...

RAM... anything, but 16g. Do I really need 2133hz ram? Seems quite expensive...

PSU... anything. Any recommendations?

Casing... Fractals R5? I don't care about looks/windows, etc. What I would like to have is easy to access HDD rack (easy in easy out) if possible.

HDD... I'll recycle my ADATA ssd and 1T (don't remember the brand) HDD

OS... will PC theme (if I buy everything from them) install the OS for me? I do NOT have win10 disk, but I understand my win7 disk cd-key can still activate a win10 installation?

Base on the above
Mobo+CPU (i5 6500 + H110m-a m.2)= 401
GFX (ASU 6g 1060) = 439
RAM (Kingston 1800mhz 8mhz x 2) = 109
PSU (sunflower) = 119
Casing (R5) = 149

That's about 1217 (PC theme price). Might need to top up for hdd and win10 if needed, but my budget range is about there.

For the GTX 1060, any of the brands you mentioned will do. Just get the best value deal you can find.

You can consider Superflower for PSU. It's quite a popular recommendation here. (despite the crappy name, it's not a cheapo China brand .

You can update to Win 10 but first have to install Win 7. Next, download the accessibility update from MS and run that.

h110m-a m.2 only have 4 SATA port so are u going to store that many hdd in your case?

as for ram u cant get that as the mobo support ddr4, the ram u get is ddr3 which is not compatible

since ur buget is 1200.

gfx maybe can consider palit or zotac (as both the cheapest, can consider buying from lazada as u can get 10% off max $30 discount on the card)

case can consider corsair 100r or 200r

dun get the asus one. with that price, up the budget slightly and u can even get a palit 1070. but it's up to u. but if u want to save $, get the palit one as it's the cheapest. if u want more warranty, get the zotac one as they have 5 years compared to palit 3 years.

ram just get the kingston value ram lo. $55 per 8gb @ 2133mhz. not sure what the fuss is about really.

i think the mobo is fine. it's all about what u need. but if u do need wifi, that mobo doesn't have it. this one does.

4 usb 3.1 slots should be sufficient for your usage?
but this mobo doesn't have additional pci-e slots other than the one for the gpu.

I only have 1 ssd, 1 hdd.

The rest are external 2.5 drives. I plug in only when I need the stuff in them.

The only other 2133 ram is some g.skill rip thingy, which is quite expensive.

The RAM you should look under Desktop memory. And your current selected processor only supports DDR4.

No, it's from lazada. It's the dual fan version selling for 555 without discounts yet

Yup and you have to inform them which version to install. As long as you have a valid genuine Win 7 key, you are good to go. You cannot use Home premium on Professional and vice versa.

As for this, I have never heard of it. But it probably have lesser conflicts on device support or something. Like running AMD system with AMD GPU, they have hybrid crossfire support. Not sure if its still applicable now.
