Going to Australia and renting a car requires a $1000 deposit.

I called youtrip and they said there were no issues with the vendor issuing me back the deposit.

Anyone had any similar experience before?

Refund is sure get back one. Just a matter of time. But whether the refund can withdraw or not I am not sure.

If you're making full payment when you pick up the car, you can ask the rental company to charge the booking amount to Youtrip. Then put the $1000 deposit on a credit card.
You've to check the T&Cs of your rental contract, some rental companies insist on having only a credit card to hold, cannot be debit card. This is my experience in Europe a few years ago.

Hi all.

Currently planning a trip to Iceland for this year end. I'm unsure if ISK is available locally at money changers, seems to be somewhat of a rarer currency. Iceland doesn't accept SGD either (based on what i read online) so i would have to go SGD->Euro->ISK which doesn't seem feasible. I don't own any credit cards and only use debit cards.

Was thinking of applying for YouTrip for this sole purpose. Would this be advisable or are there better options? (pls dont say apply cc, not planning to)
Is there anything i really need to look out for other than the $400 withdrawal limit and 2% thereafter?
If i topup using bank linked payment/paynow, the leftover ISK in the card i can convert back to SGD and withdraw back to bank right? Or am i understanding their FAQ wrongly?

It is risky if you have only 1 card . Many things can go wrong. It is better to get one more card or other means for payment

You don't need cash in Iceland. Everywhere including toilet accept card. Better have more than one card as youtrip occasionally experiences maintenance downtime.
