Self made? Are you an entrepreneur?

I tried to build my own companies and invested in many start-ups, I've lost money 5 times and broken even once. I have nice stories to tell people about exits and being an angel investor, but to be honest, it never made me a penny.

This is after or before accounting for outstanding debt you have with your properties (if applicable)

After debt. I usually keep little debt, only recently I've taken advantage of low interest rates and now have debt of ~1.5m.

If net worth 3m at 33, must be very successful. Usually entrepreneur.
Remember that when I was 33, I think my net worth was probably 1-2mil, net income per year was 250-300k

If purely saving and investing like what he said to make it to 3m at 33, must be either earning something like 500kpa sort of income or he’s indeed the next stock genius

Very impressive. When I was 33, maybe had 50K only....

Wow, at 33, you already had tried to build up many companies and you mentioned also that your net worth consisted of 1/2 equities. So you should be rather good at investing. Can you share some tips with us so that we can learn from you?

On my equities, I don't know more than an expert about any single company / gold / oil / bitcoin so I invest in ETFs. When markets are high, I'll sell down. When markets are low, I invest more and buy call options.

My equities have helped, but what made more of a difference for me was to:
1. Track assets/net worth diligently - understand what is making it go up or down
2. Calculate and maximize net returns for everything - look at historical returns for STI, IWDA, S&P and think about what drives the companies in those indexes... the choice on where to invest becomes easier
3. Reduce non-invested funds (e.g., what is sitting in a bank account earnings < 1%) - aside from an emergency buffer
