If your property appreciate by $10k in one year, how to monetise that $10k if you are cash poor? The old lady's example is to take a loan.
If your stocks appreciate by $10k in one year, you can simply sell $10k worth of stocks and treat yourself to a year end holiday or present. (or even better, you forgo reinvestment of $10k of dividends, but instead spend the dividends).

Both are totally valid ways of financial planning as long as managed properly. No right or wrong I guess, but my preference is not to have to take loans to pay for my spending on holidays and fun stuff.

28% in one year is beyond my expectations. as mentioned previously, this is the first time I have gotten $1m+ in one year from stock market returns. Just nice SQ is having another sale now, maybe give myself a treat on SQ biz class. My last trip was on Scoot - took 1 hour for my luggage to appear in Changi

I'm sure most people on MM/SSI huat big big as well, Merry Christmas! 🎄

I am a long term investor. Crashes just mean you open warchest and buy more! I was fully aware that if a sale worth waiting for was to occur, my portfolio value will be hit quite hard.

Like I've posted before, for my IBKR account, I made 9% in 2018, 19% in 2019, and -1% in 2020. As the chart shows, the max drawdown of my portfolio value was about -35%.

If you cross-reference the 35% collapse of my IBKR portfolio with my posts in this forum, you can see I was actually quite happy to finally have a chance to buy more stocks at sale prices.

Of course, as I've posted elsewhere, my China holdings are with FSMOne (why risk holding China in a US broker?) and those did pretty well, so overall 2020 was probably neutral for me, which is important as it means my previous years' gains were protected :s13:
My post from 2021. I share my losses as well, not just my wins. So hopefully some people will be able to get something out of my sharing.

I am more or less an average investor or slightly above average, I pick winners as well as losers, but because of time in market and the power of compounding, my portfolio has reached a certain level.

Merry Christmas! ;)

What is the typical price of a private jet charter? And to where as an example?
Private jet has specific use cases, such as as an American or European corporate jet shuttling within corporate offices within the continent.

These jet main short coming is limited flight range. If you need to travel from Singapore to European or American cities for vacation, you need a stopover, very 麻烦. Private jet is not for convenience but 炫富. Same like some of those sports cars, they look cool, but is it comfortable?

Interesting. Another sifu that show his power Kung fu. I wonder how does $425k of SA translate into $10-20k of monthly payout.

He said $400+k SA can do simi Kung Fu to $10-20k a month. Also his OA not impressive la. Like that my kung Fu more power

How come you have so much difficulty explaining the video?

The $10k–$15k target is reached by leveraging the CPF Life scheme once he turns 70.

Foundation Block: The ERS acts as the primary "money-making machine." He claims that with the ERS foundation plus "other kung fu" (additional investments or savings), generating $10k–$15k monthly is easily doable

Just cut and paste the youtube link into AI.

He no longer try to make organized videos like what he used to. Now he just talk cork and upload his entire video, no highlights.
The most funny is show his daughter wedding one. Actually I used to enjoy some of these entertainment but decided not to after all of them turn commercial. Example master Leong now try to do member video. Loo do more course. Josh tan also do more courses. I feel want to be content maker just be content maker. Want to be investor be investor.

1/2 way suddenly all become rojak. Machiam Zhang Yi Mou, Ang Lee film movie 1/2 way decided to teach film making then next moment try to sell prata

I think youtube too many influencers are trying to game the yt system to maximise monetisation instead of coming up with quality content.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but i prefer to read a well-written blogpost than to watch a clickbait youtube video.

Yeah I think all of them started out as good content creators to reach monetisation. Thereafter become poor quality commercial videos with not much value add. So I guess better or can only support new content creators before they reach monetisation? 😅
