Based on the photos, seems like the truck wanted to change lane to the left and van didn’t give space, as both vehicles stopped right at the end of the lane split.
report said it was the van changing lane and struck the truck

i'd say van wan to change to right lane, suddenly truck in view cos never see ahead and boom

tipper trucks are very dangerous, best to avoid even when they are in the wrong, let TP deal with them.

A fatal car accident occurred on Seletar West Link Road. The truck was suspected to have changed lanes to overtake and collided with a dump truck carrying sand and gravel. A 35-year-old man died on the road.

The incident occurred at 10 am on Sunday (July 6) on the section of Seletar West Link Road heading towards Yishun Avenue 1.

The Shin Min Daily News received news that a fatal car accident occurred on the above section of the road, involving a dump truck and a truck. A blue tent also appeared next to it, not far behind the truck.

When the reporter arrived at the scene, he found that of the three lanes that turned right to the Seletar Aerospace Link, only the rightmost lane was open; and on the two straight lanes of Seletar West Link towards Yishun Dam, only the leftmost lane was open.

It was observed that the dump truck and truck involved in the accident were parked on the lanes, and many passing vehicles slowed down, causing traffic jams. The authorities blocked and closed some sections of the road for four hours. Until 2:30 pm, some lanes of the accident section were still impassable.

After the accident, the front of the truck was almost unrecognizable, the windshield was shattered, the driver's seat was severely damaged, and the right door was placed in the grass beside it. As for the dump truck, the mudguard of its rear tire was dented.

The dump truck driver, Jakan (47 years old), who is from India and has 10 years of driving experience in the local area, told reporters that the impact was very strong when the accident happened, and he was also shocked.

When asked, the police and the Civil Defense Force confirmed that they had received a report that the accident involved a truck and a dump truck. The 35-year-old male truck driver was pronounced dead on the spot by medical staff. The case is still under investigation.

how did a lane change could have had such an impact this great?

the tipper truck was stationary?

or deceased were not focused completely when he switched lane until it's too late to react?

The tipper was full of gravel and might as well have been stationary. Small light van hit an immovable object weighing maybe 20x more.

TP no strict enforcement on such vehicles keeping left.

Vans nowadays automatically move out of leftmost lane. Not speeding, then road hogging.

Anyway to these menace on the roads, I've no pity for them.

My vehicle was hit by a speeding van before.
