Incoming SMS for all local telcos post-paid plans are free.

When incoming SMS is chargeable one? What Telco u talking about? Currently using M1 Postpaid, CL Postpaid and SingTel Prepaid all incoming SMS is free. Last time on M1 Prepaid, StarHub Postpaid and StarHub Prepaid also free as well.

Yes, must have internet. It is VoIP, so it has nothing to do with roaming. You can be connected to internet in Singapore or anywhere else and be able to call SG number. I think they have deliberately blocked calling to overseas numbers.

Apparently, more than the 4g draining the battery life it is the phone searching for WiFi networks which drains the battery. It is suggested to disable your phone WiFi if you are planning to stay only on 4g.

Subscribe to some VoIP service lah, like Viberout, Skype, Google hangout dialer etc. It is much cheaper.

If you have M1 fixed voice, you can checkout IDD 033, it is cheap, for a few countries.
