Will try both! Need JR pass? Where to buy? I'm in osaka alr, cold now..

if u are climbing mt Fuji, u will probably be staying in Lake Kawaguchi area. if it is ur first trip, u will probably want to visit Tokyo.

Not safe. Tokyo and Hiroshima residents all no new births since last 10 years cos of radiation. And most of us here in these Japan forums never ever go Japan since the accident cos kiasi. The few of us who dared to go, came back with mutation like three hands and extra two fingers.

Me and wife going Mt Fuji. She will be climbing with her friends and I will do some trekking at 5th stn. Will be in Tokyo area for about 2 weeks.

did you like book at 7th or 8th station hut for night stay or wad?

yes, can book many kinds of huts at various stations.

You can based in Tokyo(like me), just that you need to make the early trip up to Mt Fuji. I am waiting for the sales of this pass for the travel from Tokyo to Mt Fuji(to & fro)

Go for the highest Station 8.5 lodge / Shinjuku -Station 5 direct bus .
