Those who want to use a portable powerbank to charge ur surface pro 4 (only i5 & i7), this is my solution;

1. Cable
http://list.qoo10.sg/item/DC-5-5X2-5MM-12V-POWER-MALE-JACK-CHARGING-CABLE-FOR-MICROSOFT/440310813?selectedOptions=

2. Powerbank (car batt jumper & laptop charger too)
http://list.qoo10.sg/item/SG-SELLER-6800MAH-15000MAH-38000MAH-MULTI-FUNCTION-CAR-JUMP/414427459
- I m using the white model with Output: 12V2A
- This powerbank saves me on 2 occasions when my car batt flat.

But u all use at ur own risk hor. Dont quote me if ur SP4 uplorry

There is a USB cable with a built in 5v to 9/12v converter selling in amazon.

So you can basically use any mobile phone PowerBank to double up as your surface power bank.

The price of xiaomi powerbank is so much cheaper than those 12v out there.

Got link?
If convert from 5v to 12v, will the current be the same?

I go dig out the link.

A typical 5v PowerBank can give out 5w and the surface consume ard 5w if you are doing basic surfing, heavy load will tap the internal battery.

That's a video in YouTube of a person having a homemade cable to charge his surface pro using a 5v PowerBank.

So it will be charging rather slowly but I think it is a good as a battery extender alternative to those $1xx 12v PowerBank.

Ok.

btw, my powerbank was only $60. Got it to jump start my car, then noticed that there's this cable for sp4. So it added the functionality of my powerbank. guess why not. haha

Did they improve the packaging design yet? I still remember last time see some unboxing videos, some people didn't know the orientation so when open up the surface actually drop onto table. :s13:

Duno how the old package looks like, but now they have tapes to hold all the openings, thus not easy to drop out.

That's a good way to do it. The SP3 Pro packaging was notoriously bad IMO.

oic. anyway, these tapes can be 'reuse' quite a couple of times & they are still sticky.

Maybe those reviewers are too eager to open their new hoots, became careless while openings. I m guilty of that sometimes.

if a normal PC can do it, then surface 4 surely can.

web development not really graphics intensive, probably if you ask if it runs solidworks/edge or Creo then perhaps will need some testing. I know it surely sucks to run solidworks on a system that uses integrated graphics. Parts ok, Assm die.
