Just got this router after upgrading to 1Gbps but for some reason I get random lag spikes (>9k) when I play WoW. Never happened before this when I was on 200Mbps.

Did I do anything wrong on the port forwarding? The ports are based on Blizzard's website.

I will be getting this modem for recontacting from 200 to 300mbps. Will be self collecting and installing. Is this modem plug and play? I have a singtel tv STB at home too. The singtel home line is no longer plug into this modem but directly to the ONT? I am currently using aztech 7002.

You will be receiving the ac1900 router

Yes plug and play, no need special config.

Initial setup through Wi-Fi can use the provided password located at the bottom of the router to the 2.4/5g Wi-Fi network to setup like New ssid or New Wi-Fi password, otherwise everything is plug and play.

Phone line will be ont. Check with them upon sign up, can shift the service there.

Yeah that's the advantage for home fibre where all configurations are automatically applied. What u need to change is the wifi password and your SSID to make it look fierce.. :D

The features are already listed in post #1.
Your router info can be found here
Compare lor !!!

7002 is only a wireless n dual band router, cannot compare to ac1900 which is a wireless ac dual band router with band steering.

Different class yo..

Just collected my AC1900 yesterday.. plug n play...

Is it better to leave it at auto channel selection or scan and fix on a relatively isolated one?

Is it possible to force a device to connect on 5GHz band?

Hi RSKeisuke,

It's better to leave it auto mode.

I prefer to set my own channel for 2.4/5. You can analyse your environment to see which channels are less used and choose on that . But generally I use 1/6/11 cuz I met compatibility issues in the past with other channels

Off band steering, set diff ssid for 2.4/5. Then connect to 5.

It actually depends on your wireless environment which might or might not change over time. I will suggest you put it to auto mode so that it chooses the best channel available.

Also, if u want your device to connect to 5ghz, u have to off band steering like what kero said. Then your device will connect to 5ghz only.

U can also download the various wifi analyser that is compatible to your phone to scan the environment.. :)

Using Different SSID /pw is what I usually do to assign devices to specific bandwidth. Know the limitations of 2.4/5

2.4 can broadcast over longer area, but not as strong as 5. On the other hand, 5 has better band but cannot cover far.

Best is to experiment with your devices
