hi guys, gonna buy a 128GB white ceramic Mi5 Pro (128GB/4GB RAM) for my gf from this guy called Premium Cables on Carousell.

so first thing i'll check is if his Global MIUI ROM is the same as the latest one on en.miui.com (which is V8.0.2.0), anything else I need to check?

just want to ensure that

- it's legit
- it's new
- it's authentic
- it's legit global ROM that will receive OTA updates
- Google services can work even with OTA updates

when mi5 came out, camera also supposed to be damn tok gong. Simi 4axis stablisation can beat iphone... but I always struggle to take decent photos, its worse than my previous mi note.

its one thing to have a good camera/sensor, another thing to implement it well with optimised software. If not, its just a huge waste of good hardware.

All these camera reviews, I take it with a huge pint of salt. If can match iphone 6 quality, I think its commendable already.

With the regular MIUI updates, fixes are definitely going to be coming every now and then~

This is one good advantage that Xiaomi has on its MIUI, which provides constant and regular updates to their devices, by delivering fixes, new stuffs(but sometimes bringing in new bugs )~

ah well, cannot complain. "want cheap want pretty want big racks"...

still, kudos to them for offering what is almost equivalent to google pixel hardware-wise but half the price.

I will wait for mi note 2, although on paper, should be quite close to 5s/plus.

I agree that they should optimize their system properly first before launching though, but the nature of MIUI is good in its updating frequency..

This I'm not too sure, but it will likely means optimization will now be under the hands of the one behind the development of the custom ROM.

Most of them will not be optimised, unless xiaomi makes all their apps/kernels/codes/etc to be open source, which is not going to happen.

How much free ram available after a fresh reboot..

Me just bought a Mi 5s plus 4gb + 64gb version from Lazada... Now having regrets that i should have taken the 6gb Ram edition. Couldn't call them over the weekend.. Now the item is prepared for shipment so cannot change the order liao..

Seems like ram management has improved? My mi5 only have 1.5GB free after a reboot on stock theme.
