Remembered someone asking about Android pay. I tested and it work fine with M1 ez-link SIM (only tried with slot 1) and no issue with Android Pay.

Thanks for the reply. I was the one asking. I am on M1 too actually, also slot one. A bit lost as to whether to ask M1, Sony, DBS or Google for assistance for Android pay problems...

Ezlink transit payments work too? the M1 guy at IMM was insistent that xperia xz is not yet certified for nfc ezlink (therefore cannot work) and he advised me to just change to a normal nano sim for now which he can waive the charges for. Also said android pay doesn't need an nfc sim card.

I took one couple weeks back using X Compact which has similar camera modules with the XZ. Here it is in HD:

What mode did you use? SteadyShot Standard or Intelligent Active?

That's correct, you do not need NFC Transit SIM for Android Pay to work.
So far it seem to work quite well on Sony Xperias', had been using the same NFC SIM since Xperia Z2 -> Z3+, XA Ultra and now XZ and they all seem to work without issue.

I had tried Android Pay with DBS card, no issue paying at MacDonald's.

android pay should not need an nfc sim. infact, android pay can be used anywhere with nfc payments (japan, Singapore, etc). Reason that is possible is coz of the felica chip that's mainstream. only our ezlink uses cepas which is a different kind of chip thus requires a separate sim to work...

our old ezlink cards were felica though..

I intentionally tried to walk normally while holding the camera below chest level. So I was actually "bouncing" a lot. I think the SteadyShot did the trick, else it'll be a whole lot more shaky. I can try to take another similar video without SteadyShot and do the comparison. Of course will be good to take with another phone but mine are all Xperia ones :p

My previous Z3 wins in terms of battery life compared to XZ. I thought the battery needs some time to run-in but its still the same...
Same. Battery life really cui compared to my Note 7. Might be selling this to get another phone. It also runs 2-4C warmer. My Note 7 idle temp is 28 but XZ is running at 30. When playing COC for around 10 mins, Note 7 is at 34 whereas the XZ is at 38. Somehow have this "interior" feeling after doing all these tests :s13:

The Note 7 has a bigger battery, so naturally it'll last longer.

And does the extra 2-4 degrees have an adverse and obvious impact on performance? Sounds like nitpicking to me.

I think if you compare side by side, note is bigger in size than XZ.
No doubt it will also have better heat dissipation qualities.

Inferior? Of course the battery capacity is smaller in XZ due to the smaller screen and size.
Unfortunately for many fans, Sony does not sell flagship phablets this year, like Z5P of the previous year.

I think he is referring to the temperature during sleep mode.

You must have a pretty low body temperature or sensitive skin if you can feel the difference between 28c and 30c. :D
