Well it's easy to say that if you're not on a contract. Issue is most people are on a 24month contract...and the problem is these contracts do not provide any SLA or exit clause due to breech on the providers end.

So basically as consumers we sign up and the provider can pretty much not provide any service and we can't switch contracts without paying a very hefty amount. Go figure...

Well you can take this downtime issue as a example and ask for exit of contract at a discount.

I'm on contract too but I won't be asking to switch to other telco as if other telco guarantee you won't have downtime during this 2 year.

You can't really blame the telcos, they need to recoup their initial outlays, i.e. marketing, installation, activation and equipment. If we want 100% uptime, we will need redundancy, i.e. 2 different lines from 2 different telcos. I am quiting VQ when my contract ends and will sign up with 2 other telcos.

It's been down for so long on a rest day for most of the office hours working class... Wonder why isn't there a plan B? Did someone screwed up royally? Even roll backs fail?

14min + holding the line to vq and no pick up and suddenly line tio cut off.

dunno what maintenance to upgrade or to breakdown.

I felt your pain. I have M1 fibre as my backup as I work from home frequently. Never just rely on one service. But vq maintenances have not affected me so far.!fingers crossed

You got alot of money to spare? I'm paying $29 for my Starhub. 100% uptime 24/7 except for the rare occasion.

During emergency, just tether from your mobile phone.

Err... it is still a private limited company (not private exempt company which doesn't have to) and have to file their annual report with Acra every year. The financials are publicly available via ACRA bizfile (as Extracts) as long as you pay S$26 for it.

The facts speak for themselves. For sure, I am not making anything up :)

Just go to Acra and purchase their FY2015 filings (by way of extract). Think it is always prudent to check the financials of any entity (travel agencies, beauty salons, etc) that you wish to prepay anything.

You signed up a new account and paid $26 to post about Viewqwest. Your background is quite fishy. :D

Anyway with all the recent breakdowns, my intuition says Viewqwest is not under a good financial shape.

For those affected

Hello customer,

Thank you for your patience.

I understand that you’re currently experiencing difficulties with your Internet connection.

As of now, we’ve had a service maintenance (5/3 - 0300 to 0500 hours) and it appears that the repercussion of the maintenance at Ang Mo Kio exchange had left some of our users without Internet. We’ve deployed our engineers to the exchange and in the process of rectifying this matter. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Actually might not be true.

Financial Grade from GeBiz

VQ: S9 $30,000,000 (EPU S9)
MR: S10 >$30,000,000 (EPU S10)

I know. I also surprised MR can be S10.

Hence, I need static IP too ;) Already paying 89 for VQ 2GB, will sign up with M1 with static IP and Whizcomm or Starhub Cable and will have some spare charge. Anyway, wifey needs a stable backend so this is probably worth it so that I won't get earful of grumbling.

MR has got bigger share capital of 66m compared to VQ share capital of 3.5m as of FY2015.

I don't understand your skepticism. The public records are there for you to check yourself too and that is what I am injecting into a logical discussion about the dangers of prepayment for any service.

Just to find out more about the no internet connection problem.

Those who raised the issue of no internet connection, are you those on the AMK Exchange?

If you received an email about the Maintenance, then you are on the AMK Exchange.

Any one not on the AMK Exchange but also have no internet connection problem?

I am not in the AMK Exchange and i have no issues with internet connectivity.

I have used internet since 11am until now with no issues at all.
