there are so many nice pastries to buy besides pineapple tarts.
nowadays one of my must buy is this 4 in 1 (red bean/yam, salted egg yolk and mochi) sesame pastry from 紅櫻花。 they also have a "mooncake" with white lotus paste and salted egg york, cheese powder on top.
they have two branches in Ximending. can go do sampling before you buy.

and then there's also alot of candies that SG don't have. i will go Carrefour 掃貨。

Which Carrefour did you go to? Seems like most of them not close to MRT stations... are they all 24hours?

My must buy is always instant noddle and pineapple tart. The rest is decide as I go.

where did you buy your instant noodles? i want to buy 1-2 boxes of Man Han Da Chan bring back leh...

I went Carrefour @ Ximending coz it's 24 hrs..wow the Korean tourists there very noisy sia.

I go carrefour ximending too. Carrefour is on the main road, so just walk along the main road, I think about 15 mins walk. You buy all the stuffs there, after pay, can go to the packing counter to do your own packing into carton. Carton box, tape, string etc, are all provided.

You can ask your hotel reception for direct.

how is the tax refund procedure? can do straight at cashier counter or need to go another section to do?

Careefour has no tax refund.
So take a cab if you have hands-full of stuff.

I collected the vouchers yesterday. I understood fr the manager tat the vouchers are running out quite fast.

You will need to bring printed copies of

1) Your flight booking tat shows bookijg reference, travel date and passenger(s) name

2) Accomodation booking confirmation that shows date of stay

After the counter staff verifies the documents, you will be asked to key in the following info at the computer:

• Main person name as in passport
• Person's Date of birth
• Person's email address
• Travel dates
• No. of passengers travelling

If your booking reference is for 3 pax, you can redeem for 3 vouchers.

MRT from airport to Taipei city is less than $10? Don't think it is worth going down unless you are working nearby and happen to go Taiwan soon?

it is less than 15min walk from xmd exit 1. 10min can reach.

always like to go after midnight when all shopping/eating at night market is done. went 1am, 2am also quite crowded. LoL.

bring your own big big shopping bag.
their plastic bag quite expensive.

yup maybe will go together with wife on our last night in taipei... if want to buy a lot of things i think will leave my mum and kids at the hotel instead... will be staying at midtown richardson so still within walking distance of the hotel...

i suppose it is rather safe to walk on the street late at night...

Very safe and quiet, I go there for dinner, come back already 10-11pm. Everyone can go, come back take cab lol.

Safe to walk ard.
Bring enough plastic bags.
If not, put in boxes and bring back hotel to sort it out.
Anyway, easier to check in with boxes.
