Hi, i have similar situation when i applied for part time course too. I am working as a contract and I have applied in May 2019 and contract was expiring in July 2019. I just applied anyway cause my contract is one year. But, SUSS emailed and said my contract is expiring in July 2019 and asked if im renewing my contract. Luckily, i renewed with my current company for another 1 year and immediately re-submit my employment letter to SUSS. Till date, have not heard from SUSS. You can try tho, no harm :)

Thanks so much for the reply! All the best ya I hope you get in!! :) Do update here on the outcome

hello! first post on hardwarezone, dunno if this is the correct button but here I go :s13:

I applied for BAEL (Jan intake) but am thinking about switching to Sociology or Comms. am just worried that my interest in the modules won't equate to an ability to excel in them, lol.

posting here in the hopes that this catches the eye of someone who is currently taking/has taken Sociology or Comms at SUSS :)

- may I know what your career path has been like? if you're currently working, may I know what you're working as? how did you land your current job?
- have you found the modules to be mostly theoretical/high-concept?
- did you do a minor, if so, which minor did you take and why?
- are you planning to do a Masters?

if are reading this and you know someone who has taken/is taking Sociology or Comms, would really appreciate if you can sound out as well... I wanna establish contact!! Hahaha

edit:

just read this-

''Overseas experience is mandatory in SUSS, which has to be good news for you! Because that is one of the joys of studying in a university. Fret not, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be away from your home for a good few months, as they have a variety of overseas programs in the form of working, volunteering or studying overseas with different durations. You can definitely find one suitable for you.''

must be nice if you are a full-time student :')

Just asking if anyone knows if SUSS accept Specialist Diploma from private school? I have Specialist Diploma for both Psychology and Counselling. I'm planning to apply for PT Psychology and I really hope to get in. Aiming for the 2020/07 intake btw!

just apply. nobody will know other than the sch's outcome. seems like so long private diploma = 1 trial semester, have to pass (minimally)/to be considered. re apply aft that. the modules are actually part of the degree.

Yes very sadly they don't recognize private diploma as private diploma standard doesn't match the standard of a 3 years diploma standard.

Oh btw I applied for logistic and supply chain management..Even though I got a Private Diploma from PSB but I think they don't recognize it too

Hello :)
I'm currently taking Sociology major with Psychology minor. I've been in the social services/education/community sector. Currently in social services.
Sociology can be a bit dry with their terms for describing 'normal' social phenomena. Quite a bit of theory. You definitely have to have an interest in the happenings around you. It's good if you are keen on and read constantly about social issues.
I took Psychology as a minor because well; I like working 1-1 with people. Psychology gives me an understanding of how people work, plus it's broad-based that I can use it to enter sectors other than social services. Same with sociology.

Thank you for sharing! :)

In the end, I emailed them to switch to Sociology. Hoping that my change of mind won't affect my chances of getting in hahaha...

By working in social services, do you mean that you're currently working at an FSC or one of its subsidiaries? Or are you working at an NGO? If you're OK with it, can you share what you do at work? (hehe I can move this to PM if you prefer)

I can assume that you got the info for somewhere? But I do have a feeling that majority will be placed at their July intake

This was shared by the admission officer. Well let’s look out for it.

I got the notification of admission on 15 Nov 2016 and was in the January 2017 intake. So it doesn't mean that getting the notice in Nov means you would be in the July intake.
