Reason for getting China set
- because it is cheaper for sure and I don't need 512GB, it's not like iPhone where you trade in the value is higher so I would rather save the difference (CN vs SG) to buy other accessories like VoocBattery, Vooc C-type cables, Enco Ear Piece, etc. 12GB/256GB is good enough for me.
- I need a few features (AI Breeno/Audio Transcribe/etc.) for work reasons (I work with Chinese a lot)
- and also because of frequent software updates
- lastly freebies by HeyTap (available till 6 April 2020), I got additional 50GB Oppo Cloud and then later on 2TB for 6 months.
- then additional discounts for later purchases on Oppo Store China.

Bloatwares
- have never used Xiaomi before, I am an iPhone user since iPhone 2G then (during iPhone 5s period) used Sony Xperia for about 2 weeks before switching to Find 7A and then Find 7 for about 8 months before going back to iPhone. Oh ya, sold off my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB Green at $1250. Price lao sai over the past 3 weeks. No one buying.
- I am not sure about what you consider Bloatwares but the China ROM quite standard includes additional apps like Taobao, JD, Trip.com, etc. Calculate about 10 apps. So all I did was just do a clean full uninstall via settings > app management

Warranty
- although my friend told me don't have local warranty but he said I could try international warranty since the China sets come with International Warranties too at least 1 year.

My Honest Opinion
- if you are worried about the warranty, then better go with SG set, sell off whatever freebies you don't use to offset the $1699.
- getting the China set now will be slightly more challenging now because OOS at the moment.
- China sets pricing seemed to increase, I am not sure because a lot of foreigners also trying to get China sets (cheap). Better check first. Can try Carousell. Avoid Alibaba.
- and of cost, you want to be lagi special, can order the Grey Vegan Leather but the price is a little more ex because everyone also fighting for it.
- then lastly, if you manage to secure a set, be prepared to wait for at least 2 weeks to receive the set because of lesser flights and tighter border controls.
- so it really depends on what you want, I was lucky because I pre-ordered a few days after launch and then got my friend to help me carry back.

-----------

On a side note, does anyone (who has this set) know where to buy screen protectors for this model? Film ones. Had problems with tempered glass. wasted 2 pieces. the shops I went to currently advised me to tentatively use Reno 10x Zoom at $18...

My pre installed screen protector also got some issue. Bottom right side seems to be peeling up although the case doesn't have any contact with it.

Hooted full glue tempered glass from taobao and shipped via ezbuy. Currently waiting for it to arrive :s12:

wow

thanks for going this detailed.
i was contemplating also to get it from Oppo official shops in taobao
After factoring GST and shipping fee, its comes up to around the price of SG set but with 1/2 the memory size. so i'm kinda taken a back now to buy from China.

I don't think RWM sets comes with the earbuds. When I bought it during launch their freebies were some AKG headphones and a oppo gift box which consists of a cup and a selfie stick... -.-
