"couldnt locate the additional nodes"

mine is a tri-pack so the same error is happening for the other two additional nodes

I know they had been factory reset because on the wifi SSID you can find them at default to connect "setupxxxx"

according to linksys instructions, I am supposed to be getting purple light after factory reset but I have bright red light only now, I have done the reset many times the same result

I think ur node is same as 1 of those I'm owning, purple light became red...

Blue light became green

I chat with 3 different online chat support before the last one suggest that there might be difference in led color.

I'm sure I'm not color blind too, as other node is showing the correct color.

Yes I also understood it now after a painful night of trials and errors
The light different colors from Linksys official instructions totally mislead me
To the extent I want to changeout of this brand next router purchase

I'm having some issues with my Velop WHW0303-AH.

For some time, I am unable to connect to the 2 child nodes. Both child nodes give off the red lights and my mobile devices would switch to 4G. I usually resolve it by rebooting them. It happened about once in 2 weeks in the beginning and the situation deteriorated to occur every few days.

Sometimes, the usual reboot wouldn't resolve the issue and I have to reboot the Singtel router and reset the 3 velop units to solve the connectivity issue.

Few days ago, I was near to the parent node (in the living room) and realised I couldn't go online despite my mobile devices were showing a full status on the wifi bar. All the nodes were in blue light then. The app indicated that the connection were normal.

I moved closer to the other 2 child nodes (in 2nd and 3rd room respectively) and I was able to go online. Again, I had to reboot the parent node and the router to resume the connection.

Anyone experiencing the same issue before?

On the side note, I'm getting about 300-350 Mbps on 5Ghz with the 2nd node and half the speed when I'm connected to the 3rd node, which is the further away from the parent node.

I'm able to connect a LAN cable from my router to the 2nd node via a switch. Will having a LAN connection to the 2nd node improve the wireless experience on the 3rd node?

Sounds like a coverage issue.. if u are able to connect the nodes on lan will be good, as it reduces the need for wireless backhaul which is usually unstable if u place them too far apart or with obstacles in between..

A properly connected velop doesn’t require a restart. Mine has been running since day 1, it only restarted itself when doing auto firmware upgrade..

Thanks for your suggestion.

Have switched the position of the parent node and re-designated another node to take the role as the parent. Currently, the new parent node sits in between the 2 child nodes and hopefully, the coverage will be improved wit reduced downtime.

Anyone here using linksys MR8300 ? Singtel

MR8300 is a good wifi mesh router. Very wide coverage and strong signal. I am using it now. Even one device is good enough to cover the entire unit with 2.4Ghz band. Of course, for faster speed, add in Velop Node running 5Ghz will help to up the speed.

Thanks for your advise, do u think is there a need to go with MR9000 instead of MR8300?

Does MR9000 / MR8300 support VLAN tagging?

nope, they follow the velop firmware as these 2 routers can mesh with velop. so no vlan for them.

in fact linksys is phasing out routers and focussing more on velop type of mesh systems..

It is a pity that a high cost Velop mesh systems do not support Vlan...

Thanks that should work.
But still thinking if i should waste money on replacing current router for little better performance.

To upgrade to mr8300, as i am currently on Singtel AC elite with velop tri-band.

In a similar dilemma.

Considering to replace the Singtel Elite with AX88.

However, I'm having some good speed with the Elite on wired connection though it deteriorates badly in the afternoon when I downloading from overseas sites. The Velop is handling my wireless connections and I find them to be in acceptable speed after making some adjustments to their positions lately.

Probably will upgrade during sales/discount.

AC Elite wired performance should be fine (gigabit Ethernet). The routing performance is the problem (probably due to bad SingTel customized firmware) and you may have to reboot it from time to time.

So it makes sense to upgrade to a better router. If you have WiFi 6 client, it is probably good to get AX88. Actually I think the cheaper AX58U is good enough as most of the WiFi 6 client is only 2*2. You can continue using your Velop triband for better coverage.

On the other hand, the download speed problem in the afternoon may have nothing to do with the AC Elite but rather with SingTel itself. There are a few similar reports in the SingTel 1Gbps Fibre thread. SingTel may have bad routing with some sites and may throttle download speed especially torrent speed during this circuit breaker period as per the reports.

To me MR8300 is simply too expensive...

But AC Elite is not a good router. Maybe a cheaper WiFi 6 router with Vlan can be the choice, say Asus RT-AX58U to use together with your existing Velop Triband.

If getting other brand router meaning my velop cant use the full feature again, as my velop is connected thru bridge mode now.

Changing to asus system under my consideration, but too costly unless i sell off my velop. Perhaps i should might just wait for wifi6 mesh router MRXXXX series from linksys.

All my connection is wired backhaul, so speed wise still quite ok with AC Elite router.

Yes i think ax58u is good too, but can't mesh with velop system.

I too notice speed connected even with LAN slower this few months in daytime. Tested in midnight 3, 4am again seem quite ok .
