ping test can ???

Oh and an extra note for new home owners of brand new BTOs lurking around: TEST EVERY SINGLE NETWORK POINT, PAY THE ELECTRICIAN OR SOMEONE TO TEST PROPERLY. Some unfortunate people in my cluster have dud/not working network points and the only solution offered is to run awful trunking all the way to the faulty/empty point. Flooring already done and they will not hack for you to lay the cables.

This kind of money don't try to save, test every single point make sure they are all connected to your db box.

I saw devices used by the uncle to test both ends of network points, just test that it's working properly can liao. :s13: As long as it exists (not empty), at the very least it should work.

Its called the cable tester. :) But not worth getting if just using it once. The other advantage is that it can also check for the quality of the connectivity.

A simple LAN Cable Tester only cost <$5. Why not worth it, even to use once?

Oh thanks! I saw the uncle using this atas looking Fluke one, I am guessing electrician have this item as a standard? He put one end at the dB box, the other end at the point he was testing. For sure it doesn't look like it's less than 5 bucks. :s13:

Yup, the atas cable tester can easily cost thousands onwards.

If DIY check, get the simple tester to test connectivity.

Or hire professional that has atas cable tester, that can test connectivity & also test the connection speed.

Connectivity = To test that the 8 cables are connected correctly.

Speed = What speed you can expect of the installed cable can perform.

If you have not purchase your google mesh.

1. Get a asus router that support AI MESH. And hook up another Asus AI mesh router in Room 2. Than you have 1 wireless network and 2 AP covering the whole house. This you can manage your router and wireless all under Asus UI.

2. If you already have a google mesh. You can try install google mesh in the DB BOX and see how the wifi speed and coverage before getting normal router to place in db box.

If coverage is good than no need to get another router. The google mesh in db box might give network wifi coverage to living Room, Bedroom 3 & kitchen. Node 2 will cover the rest of the house (MBR)

Was thanks everyone for your suggestion but this is getting bit too technical for my understanding haha.

Can anyone kind enough just advice me what should i do to gain the most coverage in my house? I currently do not have any ISP and bought the Google Nest Wifi yet :s12:

Why not recommended?

Almost everyone does it this way (just have proper shelf to sit on).

You just have to know, your is ONT or ONR.

What’s the difference between ONT or ONR? 🤔 isn’t this black thingy provided by all ISP?

haven bought it yet!

If you don't want to deal with too many technical things, getting a mesh setup would be the easiest, something similar to the Google Nest WiFi. Things like Ubiquiti require a bit of setup to get it working, but once it's up you rarely have to touch it.

I recommend you search on YouTube how to setup unifi to get an idea. That will probably tell you if it's too much or just nice for you.

ONT means you can use your powerful router

ONR mean your powerful router must be set to AP mode in order to use. All features of the powerful router will be rendered useless.
