Cos they sacked all the good intel engineer and hire thier own village

Tsmc and amd got the intel defected engineers and lisa su is Taiwanese, no play caste one.

More good years for amd ahead!!!!

Intel tio screwed by CECA engineers with their fake certificates and empty promises. Hard truths! :D

Quite pointless seriously.

Whats the point of having a brand new blink blink processor of the latest tech for it to be pulled down by old M/Bs disabling/reducing much of its improvements?
Much better to buy the latest tech in bundles and used it for years before buying another bundle.

Only reason otherwise ish for pure budget critical concerns, and with the rising AMD prices they could not longer be considered budget bargains.:s22:

rast time amd stuck at their bulldozer architecture very long, only thing they can do ish add clock speed and cores, but that leads to more power hungry and oso heat.

becos the CPU architecture didnt improve much, they dun have to improve the chipset lor, save money oso. but of cos they advertised this as a plus point, saying their chipset can take diff gen CPU, intel forced consumers to upgrade blah blah.

but this time round since they got the breakthru, from 2017 till now the ryzen/zen combo already upgraded the CPU 2X with 5 series (zen 1-3 architechture, ryzen 1000-5000 series), and changed chipset 2X (300-400-500 series, same AM4 socket but different PCIE support), they no longer talk about simi consistent chipset and forcing consumers to upgrade, becos they doing almost the same. in fact the 500 series will be the last AM4 chipset, they gonna have a new chipset for new CPU the next round.

Only issues are people wanting the latest and best component but also very niao to spend as well. Don’t want change mobo but want full performance from processor. Processor no need always keep changing cos the performance gain isn’t worth the hassle and money. Want change also is your gfx card and also for gaming. Just saying since I keep seeing people rant this and that

5nm in the pipeline

that will be the blue camp response in 2021
from 14/10nm into new architecture 5nm to compete with 7nm red camp :D

more densely packed, more efficient, uses lower TDP with double the performance of current lineup

Hope so.. AMD increasing prices for the new desktop range of CPU isn't a good sign for us consumers, esp. if Intel cmi and cannot offer proper competition.

Apple is switching to AS (ARM)

Consumer many is switching towards AMD

More choices are good but I hope intel can survive through

well Intel is diversifying and even making discrete GPU with their XE line and who knows maybe take the world by surprise and be competitive vs AMD/Nvidia in GPU

yeah the 4800U damn VFM...
btw.. the 5K AMD CPU is $50 premium hor..
so perhaps wait till 3600 reduce price then this is the best bang for buck rite

I need to build a new PC from the ground up.. all my parts all quite old liao.. maybe aim for the 5600x + a new mobo + 32GB ram + a mid range GPU, NVME SSD, 1 x 6TB WD Black for gaming... new 750W PSU Gold...

Dunno can keep it below 2k or not.. :(

Intel only making gpu for laptop and server. They gave up on making gpu for desktop. Might not have a surprise after all

apparently 2021 target and even if not earth shaking if can say hit RX 580 - GTX 1060 levels dirt cheap 1080p for a 1st try not bad wor

Intel is making a big splash in the graphics world this year with its Xe GPU, which will show up in Tiger Lake laptops and will soon be available for high performance (HPC) machines. But what about gamers? It turns out, they’ll have to wait until 2021, the company revealed during its Architecture Day briefings this week. Intel is labeling its gamer-focused architecture Xe-HPG, and it’ll feature hardware accelerated ray tracing and support for GDDR6 memory.

You mean nm? Amd on 7nm. Intel latest cpu some on 14nm and some on 10nm.

But transistor size is no longer a good gauge of cpu strength. Need to look at the transistor density now. Times have changed.

Actually the 14nm+++++++ and 7nm is just a name for the process. The difference isn’t as big as we think:

actually the talk in tech now w.r.t CPUs is even with AMD improving their Ryzen architecture much faster/better than Intel from Skylake days , with startling rate of increased performance wif ARM CPUs : they are saying we could see x86-64 become obsolete in all areas (consumer desktop, server and mobile) in as little as 10 years time! ARM and especially RISC-V could power Humanity computing needs in the coming decades!

I don't think so. Maybe if ARM starts beating x64 perf in single threaded workloads then I'll believe you

Amd is ultimately for gamers bah but a gaming chip will always be faster than a business chip most top level executives only need word and excel lol
