If upping Employment pass min salary is to encourage employer to employ less EP, so if we give sinkies a min salary, means what?

Need to restrict the EP also...
Also means starting a business will be tough... too high cost
My friend hire programmer in Batam $200-$300 per month

So it not so straight forward lah..

Workfare actually doesn't really help the low wage workers. What it simply does is using taxpayers' money to pay for the problems caused by low wage employers while said employers do not have to pay any additional tax for the problem they caused.

In short, privatizing profits, socialize the cost.

Dr Koh had cited the figure to explain that a minimum wage was not necessary. He said the Government's policies, particularly the progressive wage model (PWM) and Workfare Income Supplement, already ensure the majority of low-wage workers take home more than $1,300 a month.

Among the 850,000 workers in occupations traditionally deemed lower income, such as clerical support and service staff and tradesmen, about 100,000 earn below $1,300, figures from the Ministry of Manpower show.

After taking into account Workfare wage top-ups and employers' Central Provident Fund contribution, about 56,000 earn less than $1,300. Of these, about 32,000 are full-time employees, or 1.7 per cent of the workforce, a "very small number", said Dr Koh.

Gov should work out the math (sum of money) needed to lift wages to $1300 min wage on a recurring basis or yearly.

Business starting cost is always gonna be higher in Sg than elsewhere. Do not compete on lower salary. It’s a fool’s errand.

Means stop exploiting low wage worker and think of other ways to increase profits if that’s how your business model works?

As they should? Sg has produce what big corp? Every bosses just wanna exploit low wage workers?
Do you see the bigger problem is that Miw hasn’t actually solve any unemployment issue?
They are simply letting 32000 share the hiring price of 10000 or even lesser?

$1300 is like the bare min to live here. It is not like setting up the min salary to $5000 which will cause lots of burden to business.

$1300 is already dam low. How low they want to go :(

You see, they also implement universal CareShield Life when the eligible claimants also constitute only a "small" percentage what.
