Many daft people around and let all BB eat your hard-earned savings.

According to last night news, no information had yet been disclosed about the ages of the participants in the trial - US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer

“If a vaccine is to reduce severe disease and death, and thus enable the population at large to return to their normal day-to-day lives, it will need to be effective in older and elderly members of our society,” said Eleanor Riley, professor of immunology and infectious diseases at the University of Edinburgh.

Best bet is NOT to buy now.

Latest: vaccine development took a hit Monday when Brazil’s health regulator announced it had suspended clinical trials of a Chinese-developed Covid-19 vaccine — one of the most advanced vaccine candidates — after an “adverse incident” involving a volunteer recipient.

If vaccine is so simple...HIV would have a cure since 1960s.

haiz dunno why so many perma bears recently

they would say the same thing when spx was at 3230 few days ago

Hello RedsYWNA,

I came across your comment on the ETF QQQ. I have always been interested in this ETF and the recent dip has just posed a good opportunity to start a position.

However, the fact that it is domiciled with 30% WHT,higher estate tax, higher expense ratio than some Ireland alternatives , does it not bother you?

What have you considered and what made you decide on this ticker?

QQQ is an extreme growth oriented ETF. Dividend yield is only 0.5%. So 30% WHT of it is so small, it really doesnt matter. In fact the spreads on this will be much lower and commissions too lower, compared to its equivalent LSE ETF, if one exists. So dont worry about it.

As per what revhappy said..... QQQ is so much more liquid than its LSE counterpart - CNDX, with minimal withholding taxes.

I just like to add 3 more points. First, for me, main drawback of QQQ is estate duties. Should my QQQ get bigger over time, say USD 100k, I would consider selling QQQ and rebalance into CNDX (maybe every 3 years) to escape from estate taxes, while maintaining my monthly DCA into QQQ.

Second, QQQ allows fractional trading, ie I can just put USD 2k mthly and IBKR will break it down nicely for me in fractions. Not possible to do this with CNDX or gd local stocks like DBS. My parents like to ask me how many shares I own in QQQ. Honestly, I dont rem bcos its all in fractions!

Third, QQQ options is heavily traded. I can sell QQQ out-of-money puts, waiting for a crash, while continuing my mthly DCA in event the crash dont occur.

Thats why diversify and buy different ETFs!

Today:
2801: -3.337%
3085: +1.388%

sadly Vanguard is going to exit HK.... hope 3085 is taken over by another ETF manager as its good diversification from tech heavy China ETFs!

that time they also exit sg to hk, now exit hk what da?

bros, can seek some advice..

i recently include stocks in my portfolio... initally i'm only doing IWDA + EIMI..
it's like 50% - 50% after include stcks. Initially both my stable ETFS are doing pretty fine no complaints then when I include stocks, the swings can even overpower the profits from my index funds... most of my stocks are OK except for NIO if you think it's a risky play ( the rest are large caps ).

I'm ok with longing but every time there is a correction , the profit will be affected. is his part of parcel of stocking?

It may be attributed by stocks that I went in ex ( I do average down though). Or am I too heavy on stocks. Any bros can advice how to do this better? Tks

Its normal to have ups and downs. Overall it should rise over time but of course must depend on when you purchase your shares.

If you have just started, it is normal to have sleepless night on the slightest of dips. As time goes on, you will be able to handle your emotions better and realise that huge volatility are part and parcel of investing. You can have a -5% dip in your portfolio today and a +10% rise the next day. It is perfectly normal. I don't even give a **** now if any of my stocks tanked 30% overnight because I believe in my judgement and will just hold it or buy the dips. Even if it doesn't recover, there will be other stocks that will make up for the loss.

You need to trust your picks. Start small and go long. If you are satisfied with their performances after some time, slowly increase their shares. If not, cut them and move on to other picks. But main thing is that you need to be patient and tahan the swings.

The +x% and -x% are just numbers on a screen, whatever happens today can totally reverse tomorrow, both ways. Nothing to worry about, unless u need the money right away.

You mean WeWork wasn’t a technology company? :s22:

Why didn't you use your favourite google this time before asking this question?

https://www.investopedia.com/articles/investing/082415/how-wework-works-and-makes-money.asp

WeWork is simply an office-leasing company. It makes money by renting office space. WeWork purchases real estate space—sometimes just a floor or two in an office building—and transforms it into smaller offices and common areas. It rents desks to individuals or groups who want the benefits of a fully stocked office without the expense of a full office.

it depends on the definition, you can invent a definition that makes MacDonald's a tech company :s13:

Tech companies are simply businesses that provide the technology that other companies are using for their businesses.

Some people probably think the business using some tech means its a tech company. :s13:
