I have the 65" model and I think the system is identical. And I don't think you can actually disable it. Under Settings, there About. The manual system update function is there. I think the operating system prompts you for updating rather than automatically apply it. My experience when I got the TV some two weeks ago was that on powering up, I was prompted to update the firmware. Which I take to mean that I could probably refuse to.

Update on the dead backlight problem.

Messaged minihelpersshop on Shopee yesterday and got nothing but automated replies. Gave up and called them in the afternoon. Spoke to a guy, sent him a video at his request. Then he suggested we bring it to their warehouse at IMM to get a replacement. Yeah, bring a 55" TV to IMM.

So I told him no and that they should deliver to my house. He said he would contact again today to set an appointment, and gave an estimate 17th-20th Nov earliest. I received nothing from him today.

So I guess this is a buyers beware warning. It's cheap for a reason. Be prepared for issues and sub-par customer service. Will update again.

Thanks for sharing. Will keep away from Xiaomi then

Thank you for confirming! Had the same instance but was worried that it would auto update, guess it's normal then. :s13:

Had gotten mine from the same shop, so far so good. *Touch wood* hopefully it stays that way.

Sorry to actually hear about your case here, hopefully you get yours sorted soon!

Just to check, have you click on receive or confirm receipt the order on shopee? There is a date indicated there that you could raise a refund 2 days before the date if not received. Not sure how that works but might be worth exploring that option if worst come to worst that they are not settling it for you.

wow that sucks. what size is this and how much did u pay for it?

my Prism+, presumably made in china, also wasnt performing 100%, so there u go sg brand with 3 yr warranty.

but the company's cust svc was very good.

i managed to return the tv for a refund after using it for 2 months

Glad Prism stood by their promise.

There will always be lemons in any production but for major appliances if the company does not stand by its products for at least three years then that's a good sign that they don't trust it themselves.

I did some research after my Xiaomi MI4 TV broke and the web is full of users with dead devices and malfunctioning panels before the TV hits it's 2 year anniversary. It's cheap but we pay for it after all with all the electric waste these irresponsible companies produce.

I also bought from this shop... they've been pretty quick in replying and getting things done... perhaps they're overwhelmed by the 11.11 surge in purchases and deliveries to fulfil... just wait a while and see how? I await your update since I would be interested in their service standards too...

TCL can and have accessed to the directory of all their tv in the world through the internet without the owner of the tv knowledge & permission at all, to patch the tv.
Anybody heard that xm also can do the same?
Unbelievable how carefree the Chinese technology company view security and consumer privacy.

it is just a tv, not your handphone and notebook. take it easy.

even if the os is secure, there may be problems with the apps installed, especially those side loaded apps.

important point is to use the TV as a TV, not as a notebook/handphone to do your banking or to store sensitive information.

Just kidding, can people delete some files making it looks like it's time to change a new tv. :)

I also think so long as there is no confidential info stored in the tv, it should be okay.

That would be pretty insidious man... like deliberately bricking your tv to make you buy a new one?

I gave this warning when I bought last time. So, your warning will probably be buried soon. I hope ppl know not to expect after sales service from them. Just buy it if you want it cheap, and hope nothing goes wrong

Hello xiaomi tv user. I'm using the 65" android OS xiaomi tv.

Recently facing issue with Hdmi arc. When more than 1 hdmi is connected to the TV. The TV cannot detect my soundbar that is connected through hdmi arc.

When I only connect my soundbar only. It works fine.

Once I plug another 2 device to the other hdmi port. My soundbar stops working.

Anyone facing similar issue?

Anyone knows if the Mi TV 4S 55" local set sold by Mi Store Singapore comes with a built-in DVB-T2 tuner?

A bit confused because asked the Suntec store sales assistant and he said doesn't have, but i see Courts online selling local set says have.

Also does it come with Netflix and is it laggy? Because i saw a Carousell ad which the seller says Netflix is laggy

Hi Folks, can anyone tell me if the Netflix app on XiaoMi 4S supports Netflix in 4K quality? I'm reading some reports that it doesn't and wanted to confirm with folks here.

Also, does anyone have any idea who is currently selling the cheapest 65" set? I found one for $745 on Carousell though am looking to see if there might be cheaper options.

Thanks.

Compare the specific model number. If they're the same, and the Courts model has the tuner then no issue...

If you read the whole article, especially the very last part, once a hacker (in this case no need to hack, cos TCL has a back door wide open for them to access anytime) got access to the os of TCL, it can jump to all the other devices in your household that are connected to the same router. Not only your mobile, but your laptop and all. Because all are in the same network. That's why the 2 security experts raise this jaw dropping security breach.

I bought the Mi TV 4S 65" from Minihelpers on Qoo10. It is Netflix-certified so can play back 4K video for those titles with 4K availability but I find that even with 1080p, the picture quality is excellent... it comes with the Netflix app already installed.

$745 is really quite an excellent price... I paid $750 I think...
