Some of us want laptops for work, not so much for games. ;) This isn't a Lenovo gaming thread - it's a Lenovo Ryzen thread.

Edit: Getting the sense here that apparently non-gaming laptop discussions aren't so welcome. Even when sharing discount codes, it's almost as if "If it does not work for my Legion, it's not worth discussing or mentioning".

I thought forums were open to share information to benefit others. Perhaps I missed something in this thread that said it's only for gaming laptops. If so, I apologise and will just leave.

I think he just giving you honest advise.

The new legion doesn't have that gamery look. For the price its much more powerful than T14. If you're into bang for the buck that is. Of course battery life won't as good.

Then you also have the upcoming Legion Slim 7 laptops which will be so thin but yet powerful.

Nah, it's apple and orange comparsion.
The weight of legion is at 2.5kg while a t14 is at 1.46kg. I wont even consider legion for my useage which is software development.

Yep. Not a fair comparison at all.

Some just want laptops to game. I want a 14" Thinkpad under 1.3kg, Win 10 Pro, about 10h battery life. Only the T14s comes close. T14 a good second.

Gamers probably don't get why everyone just doesn't buy a gaming laptop. But not everyone is into gaming anyway. Besides, for the money a gaming desktop rig makes more sense if serious gaming is the goal.

take t14, change to 256gb ssd and upgrade yourelf with a nvme from amazon.sg
use bigsale promo code

i did some research. the default 1tb on the t14 is pm981a, which is as good as Samsung 970 evo. I suggest to choose 1tb instead of buying your own on amazon.sg :s13:. I cancelled my old order and made another with 1tb now

Not all business laptops are lightweight. They are mobile workstations too, Legion is more like a mobile workstation (eg P15, T15g, Thinkbook 15p).

It just depends your taste, so he gave you suggestion, doesn't mean you have to shoot him and all gamers. After all this is an open forum.

You can actually buy these NVME SSD from Lenovo's accessories section. They are quite well priced (and most times cheaper than buying locally). Don't forget use code.

The reverse is also true. Not everyone wants a large heavy clunker as they need mobility on a daily basis. Foisting the Legion does not help as it is not the only solution. Shooting down discount codes shared just because they do not benefit the Legion is also something else entirely (scroll up and read if you have missed it).

Also, in terms of product lines, there are reasons why the P15 and T15g exist. Additionally, the Thinkpad brand counts for something for those who have been with users since IBM days. That's a brand institution on its own that has a loyal following. And I will cheerfully admit to being one of them who has fond memories since the T43 all the way back to before the turn of the century.

The Legion is marketed as a gaming laptop, targeted for gamers primarily. The reality is, IT departments of major corporations will never deploy the Legion for their staff for professional work.

Your own advice is good for pro-Legion posters too: don't shoot down users who genuinely want a thin and light. It is a Lenovo Ryzen thread, not a Lenovo Legion thread. We all have a right to be here as well.

t14s gen 1 with top up for 16gb ram, 512gb nvme, backlit keyboard and 3 year onsite warranty.

Nice specs. About 1.1?

I wish they didn't tie the IR cam and the 400nits display to the WWAN module, or the 32GB RAM upgrade to the Ryzen 7 processor.
