So far, VQ has been stable, Bedok south area

Yea I dam. Anti vq for quite a few years. Then got back to SG from overseas, since my router supports dual wan, I got vq and run m1 as backup..
So far never had to use my m1, so might terminate when contract is up

If VQ use one of the 3 major telco as backend, then their availability is also dependant on these telco.

Except for whizzcomms, all the other consumer isps are opco themselves. Each operates their own backend infra/olt/routing/network/etc and their peering arrangements is unique to each isp. Peering arrangements n policies does impact latency which us also the large 2 tend to be weaker in it.

Not talking about latency but availability when one telco is down or telco trunk link to oversea is down.

Example for voice line. if you want to have a backup line, probably you do not want to take M1 and Circles as they are actually using same M1 infrastructure.

In a simplified form, all consumer ISPs (other than whizzcomms (on singtel)) maintains their own infrastructure (i.e. OpCo). Yes, apart from M1, Singtel and Starhub.. MR, VQ and Super Internet also has their own infrastructure.

Note: The ISP only manages the portion from the local exchange (where OLT) is at and hands it over to the exchange/peering partners. Overseas trunking a a different topic

Update: VQ technician came down and swapped out my old white Zhone for a small black modem. Everything is working now.

From call to the technician standing outside my door took 2.5 hours. Took the technician about ten mins to test, swap devices and finish up. Can't get better than this.

Looks like VQ service quite prompt.

How long you waited for the CSO to pick up your call ?

To be honest, after reading all the horror stories here, I was really impressed with their response today.

Yes, It is always recommended to use a 3rd party dns at either the router level or at the device/computer. Same applies even if you use other ISPs, not just viewqwest. They refresh much faster, some provide better security, slightly faster. and are more reliable.

Is there a NetLink Trust activation fee for new installation?

Any idea how come my landline only got incoming and no
Can’t make outgoing calls?

I was on their landline service many years back. A lot of such random issues. I gave up. Just as well, now I think it's no longer free...and mobile phone plans have changed. My plan has 1000 outgoing mins. =:p:s13:
