Unifi switch should be able to do it as it is more advanced than the low end TP-Link. Please refer to the second link mentioned in my post to the ubiquiti thread.

Ya i saw it. most likely just untag the vlan on the port. my concern is the vlan priority.. but see how it goes. my office only has unifi switch for me loan hahaha

Tested and working with unifi switch. Just need to set the internet vlan to the port vlan and works fine.

interesting fact, if u are running a vm on pc, and the pc is connected to the switch directly on the internet port, you get 2 different public ip for ur pc and the vm.

managed to get around 5 public IPs.

I managed to install tcpdump on the Asus RT-AX82U with Singtel TV box connected.

Here are some snipts of the capture. Looks like IGMP is there and there are only VLAN 20 tagged traffic to the TV box. 10.247.96.197 is the IP address of the Singtel TV box.

Ethernet MAC address range 01:00:5e:xx:xx:xx is for IPv4 multicast packets.

/tmp/home/root# tcpdump -vvnne 'host 10.247.96.197 or (vlan and host 10.247.96.197)'

The following is from Asus RT-AX82U (nvram show). So you can kind of consider that it is a dual WAN setup. WAN0 (VLAN 10) is for Internet. WAN1(VLAN 20) is for Singtel TV. But in reality Singtel TV box is more complicated than this, it will actually support Netflix and Stingray Music from the internet. Therefore 3rd party router like Asus does not support Netflix and Stingray Music.

switch_stb_x=4
switch_wan0prio=0
switch_wan0tagid=10
switch_wan1prio=4
switch_wan1tagid=20
switch_wan2prio=0
switch_wan2tagid=
switch_wantag=singtel_others

From Singtel 1Gbps thread.

This may be handy when troubleshooting Singtel ONT/router issues. To rule out ONT issues, it is possible to connect a computer to the Singtel ONT with proper VLAN settings.

Ahh it's possible to set the VLAN tag on most systems. Linux, MacOS and current Win10 versions have this capability by default. Older windows versions it depends on the nic drivers...

http://woshub.com/configure-multiple-vlan-on-windows/

Nice tip.

I knew Linux can do it but I do not know Windows can do it.

Linux guide example from Ubuntu:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/vlan

Mac guide from Apple:

My setup was 1year ago:

Manage-switch
port 1 > ONT
port 2 > internet vlan10 (To router)
port 3 > mioTV vlan 20 (Did not go thru router, direct to mioTV box)
port 4 > used as normal switch port with vlan 99 (back from router)
port 5 > used as normal switch port with vlan 99
port 6 > used as normal switch port with vlan 99
port 7 > used as normal switch port with vlan 99
port 8 > spare for 2nd public ip.

In term of security wise, because port 3 vlan20 mioTV is direct from ONT>Switch>mioTV Box and did not pass thru any firewall/router , will my entire network be safe?

Hi all. I would appreciate some help here. I have an existing asus router RT-AC87U that works just fine with my Singtel ONT. I have no IPTV. The set up is very very simple. Just dynamic IP, no VLAN tagging. And it works.

I recently bought a TP-LINK archer AX6000. I just simply switched the ethernet cable connecting to the ONT to my new router. I expected it to work. Unfortunately, while the physical link is there, it refuses to acquire an IP address for the WAN interface. I don't recall this happened when I got the asus box.

Singtel support refuses to do any detailed tech support with me, saying they don't support any third party router! called TP-link and they also say ISP problem is not their problem. The tech keeps on asking for VLAN ID, but as i said, my asus box didn't require that.

Is Singtel now doing some kind of filtering ? Do i clone the mac address of the asus?

What is your SingTel Fibre internet plan?

If you are using the older unlimited Fibre plan, no VLAN is required.

If you are using the normal SingTel Fibre 1Gbps, then VLAN is required.

Check your SingTel Bill to see what exactly is your plan.

Usually Asus and TP-Link router support SingTel VLAN and the setup is simple.

oh oh... we just recontracted with Singtel recently (we naively just said "recontract" without checking if its different). I'm going to have to check with my wife (she's the one with the bill). This router does not come with the singtel profile. If I need to configure VLAN, what do I do?

alternatively, is there a firmware upgrade with the appropriate singtel profile?

If no Singtel profile, just need to set SingTel Fibre Internet VLAN ID 10 since you do not have SingTel TV. You should be able to contact TP-Link for support if you can not figure out by yourself.

thanks for the tip. I did earlier contact TP-Link support but I was firmly under the impression i did not need the VLAN ID haha, so I was a bit frustrated.

Thanks for the tip. After configuring with VLAN ID 10, everything went smoothly. The router forced me to specify VLAN IDs for VOIP and IPTV, so I just supplied nonsence values.

Glad to hear that. Many SingTel Unlimited Fibre users (older plan,no need VLAN, no Fibre TV) got the surprise when they recontract to the normal Fibre 1Gbps plan (with SingTel VLAN).

Glad that this Vlan setup is helping here.
Any good site that I can host the picture.

When I use Facebook photo..it will expire fast.

Extended Setup- Single LAN Cable or Single Trunk Setup to route Internet/Local Lan signals with 2 Managed switch setup .

Tested working good, Internet speed is maintaining at 850Mbps ..with a 1GBps network.

dMnv0be.jpg

Standard Setup ,
Single Managed Switch to have Internet , MioTV, Using SIngtel Router and Other NonVlan Tag routers.
The SW2 is optional, this switch can be those dumb switch (Auto configure) that you can place it remotely at the DB to cater for more expansion

OsHV7qP.jpg

You need to learn the basic of vlan and how to setup. Pay attention to the Vlan Grouping , tag/untag members.

Vlan with ID 10 is for Singtel Internet
Vlan with ID 20 is for MIOTV

This is really silly, but my router stopped working this morning, after running for almost a week.

I called Singtel customer support and as usual they ask "is your router supported"? And even when I lie and say yes, they can't tell me anything except "Oh the ONT is working, please call your router manufacturer".

I now suspect I have have to set up all the VLAN ids even if I'm not using them. So its 10 for internet, 20 for IPTV and 100 for everything else? (what about VOIP for the phone)?

EDIT: after several reboots of both ONT and router, it started working..... for about 15 mins.... then i lost it again. Symptom the same. Can access router admin page. WAN interface not acquiring IP address, no error msg.

EDIT2: my VLAN configuration page on my TP-Link archer AX9000 looks very simple. I can't even associate a port with a VLAN ID. (I have no IPTV, I do have a home tel number but i almost never use it so its not important for now)

You have to contact TP-Link Singapore for help. Singtel is correct in this case that it is beyond their control. It will not be a suprise to me that AX9000 FW support for VLAN is not stable.

Thanks i will try. But at least can someone advise me the VOIP VLAN ID first? Might as well be able to provide them everything they are likely to ask for.

Right now, it is going up and down like a yo-yo

You should not set VOIP VLAN (unused long ago, now VOIP is through ONT or ONR) and IPTV VLAN (as you do not have Singtel TV). Try to leave them empty. Or set them as 0 to see if that helps.

May i know why you say that "it will not be a surprise to me that AX9000 FW support for VLAN is not stable"? VLAN tagging is as old as the hills.
