Humble experience

Managed to find one friend's uncle who does aircon cleaning for quite sometime. he is friendly and pretty easy to make appointment. They never upsell and give honest comments which is something I like, overall my third time washing with them. He speaks mandarin better so do speak in chinese lol

Air Hong aircool
Yup also voice out to want to help this uncle. I think he is the most "affordable" so far of all the aircon services I used.
Anyway nice old couple and they do the job.

Recently i am looking into purchase new aircon, so dropped an msg to uncle yap to c whether he do new installation. He actually doesnt do installation but he still whatsapp call me and tell me valuable pointers to take note when buying new aircons. actually i was so troubled whether to replace with new piping or nt as my previous piping seems to be still working fine and i wish to save cost on this part.
Finally i made up my mind after days of research in this forum and even wrote a long post yesterday (nobody reply me yet). Thanks to tis kind uncle and also infernolord to share his contact here. Lets help tis kind uncle together. May engage his service for washing in the future.

One of my newly installed aircon started leaking about 5 months after installation. Is it reasonable to get the company to come rectify?

Why not ? It's still under warranty isn't it ?
Btw, can you name the "better, faster and cheaper" contractor that installed your aircon system so that we can avoid them the next time...

Hi all, my existing aircon (~3 years old, Samsung AJ009MBADEC) is no longer as cooling as before. I have 3 units in 3 different bedrooms that are utilized daily at night. Setting temp to 18 degree does nothing and there is this stale smell coming out of the units when I turn them on. I clean the filters regularly and even dismantled them to clean the coils once. Hope to hear any advice from all here! Thanks!
Its time to do chemical overhaul liao...

If anyone needs a reliable Aircon service guy, you can pm me. I used his service for several years already. What i appreciate is he doesn't try to squeeze customer for money.

The uncle doesn't have a website, so you can pm me if keen to get his number.

I'm not related to him and doesn't get any referral benefits at all.
Can pm me his contact? Thanks bro

I got a big problem.

The pana air con unit don't blow out cold air. It can blow out strongly, just not cold.
Compressor seems to be moving, indoor unit i've cleaned and suck the hose.
LED indicators look regular.

It is intermittent, sometimes work for a few days then don't work for a few days.
Set to lowest temp still don't work.

It will randomly suddenly start working.
Anybody encountered and know anyone able to solve this problem?
My AC guys say change compressor but mine is an old model, he don't seem to know what's wrong either.

if it's the mainboard spoilt, then it should not be intermittent problem.
He says maybe some magnetic controller spoilt which he don't have the sparepart. :(

no cold air usually is gas leak or need to top up
randomly stop working usually is circuit board kaput.. either replace board or replace compressor

Confirm not gas leak, it works intermittently.

If it's the regulator mainboard faulty, it should be faulty all the way, and not on/off.
It's something got to do with a controlling component for the refrigerant being not activated to work or sensor issue.

Why not just call the authorised Panasonic service center to take a look ? They should have all the necessary spares to do a repair..

I emailed Panasonic, they said my air con is already 15 years old, they can't service it.

Anyway. I got another tech and solved the problem.
It's the capacitor not working and not activating the motor.

The idiotic part of this servicing experience is I asked two technicians and both i told them first that I suspect could be the capacitor spoilt. Because if the capacitor fail then the motor has difficulty kicking start ma tio bo.

One of them came never even see inside or test the electronics, I think he don't know how to test electrionic parts because he didn't bring any multimeter. Then said compressor must change say maybe circuit board or a switch inside spoilt. Never see inside and test anything and tell me maybe here and there, not very convincing to me. Later quote me a second hand unit which is just like 30% cheaper than a new one.

Circuit board i don't think so because if it stops working, it has a lower probability of being so intermittent unless connection got problem. The automatic switch maybe so i really tot was the problem.

Another tech online said straight must change a second hand compressor can't fix.

I get a third opinion. Tell them online specifically the problem and they said $40 bucks for inspection. I said okay.
Their guys came with a test meter, opened up the top of the compressor and diagnosed the readings. Changed the 25uf capacitor which was what I suspected in the first case and works again. Actually i see the internal, don't look hard to change but capacitor stores charges and can still leak electricity after removal so must leak the electricty from the part. Still don't suggest people to change themselves. :o

Unfortunately, Singapore is not a repair friendly country. Many of the so-called "technician" lacks hands-on skills, electronics repair is a very sad industry, where it's lowly paid and many Singaporean doesn't want to study this course. I came from this course and can speak first-hand from experience.

I see on YouTube. People handy in repairing electronics are making a killing in repairing faulty boards, particularly from graphic cards. So much jobs until they rejecting most of the requests. Normally is some morset or whatever small parts replacement in gfc.

That’s why many of these repairman do not have the skills nor the knowledge of electronics. Many will try to upsell other services or tell you to replace non faulty parts, so be beware of such tactics.

Are you willing to share the contacts of the technician? Facing a similar issue as you, but on an LG system instead, this has been quite a headache since their parts are rare

Thanks in advance
