Even after successful porting to zym, iPhone my number is still the temp number. Can’t use iMessage / FaceTime.

How to change number?
I think you'll have to sign out of iMessage/Facetime first, turn it off, and then reboot. Then sign in again once the new number is reflected.

For iPhone, I always tell people to only insert the SIM card only after the porting is successful, cos this temp number thing is quite disruptive.

And you'll have to pay for another international activation SMS.

Regarding the topic of imessage activation, I'm having difficulty activating imessage on my gomo line, do you think buying the international sms pack will solve the problem? 🤔

I have no answer for this. :/

Contact GOMO support and ask them to confirm? I recall them fixing it before after the initial troubles; when I was with GOMO some years back I didn't have to buy the pack.

Apple's not very verbose on this topic, but Singtel is on their Carrier list. SIMBA is noticeably absent from that list.

My problem has nothing to do with number porting, I'm already on gomo for the past 1 year. I'm gonna hit up their support tmr after lunch and see what they say.

Not number porting problem, mine was successful too but iPhone still retain the previous temp number at setting “my number” so cannot use iMessage/ facetime.

Finally got it to work. Edited my number in setting from temp number to blank, close setting and edit to my actual number (if cannot save must save it as blank first). Cannot activate on same day as the number will revert to temp number during activation.

Left it for a day, next day restart and check if phone number is correct then activate iMessage and FaceTime.

Yep. But in future, don't put in the SIM card until porting is successful. That avoids all the problems the "temp number" causes.

The act of inserting a new SIM card triggers the international SMS to "verify" the SIM card's number and register that as the new number for iMessage/Facetime. Other countries don't have this "temporary number" nonsense that we have here, which is a workaround they use for number porting, and to allow the new telco to bill you cos you cannot say you don't have a service if you have a number.

How to know porting is successful if you don’t put it in and check? I assume after the previous line got cut it means porting is done right?

Always wait for old SIM to have no reception then insert new SIM. To be extra sure as it may take a while for everything to port fully, wait a few hours even after no reception on old SIM, next morning then insert new SIM.

Old SIM cut off, just means they are starting the porting process, which can last for some time. I would just power off the phone and go to sleep, and wait till the next morning then insert my new SIM.

Cos even at the time when the old telco is cut, the number may not have been ported yet. So the number associated with your new telco might still be the temporary number.

If you die die must check, use an Android phone - it doesn't have the same message activation scheme (remember that the temp number thing is unique to SG).

I practice that too. Especially with iPhones, they get very confused when your number suddenly changes, along with every other texting app on the phone panicking.
