Any recommendations for workout earbuds? Currently using Jabra 75T active but left side dying soon. Only using for music so no need good voice call. Budget ~$200

Thank you
I recommend Redmi Buds 3 Lite
Comes with removable earwing
The earbuds is also IP54 dust and waterproof rated. So it can handle dust dirt, a bit of mud and water
Redmi Buds 3 Lite Review + Mic test

Ordered a pair of Oppo Enco x2 from shopee china seller for $140 to replace my barely 8-9 mths old Soundcore LP3 which has run into some battery life issues. Think this will be my last splurge on TWS because based on my TWS usage experience down the years, every single set i own last for 1 year plus at best before they die for one reason or another. Compared to some of the wired iems i owned, even budget $20-30 ones, which can easily last for years.

Actually wired for me the only time I gave up on wired earphones are when their wires got loose which I would blame myself for being rough usage. But I do agree with you, wired earphones can last quite long if well taken care of. While TWS honestly no matter how it will eventually come to a point we user cannot take the battery life.

Speaking of battery life. Actually do you all actually think long battery life makes a big difference to you? In Singapore, the maximum on public transport is like less than 2 hours each trip? After which will definitely put the earbuds back into the casing to charge. Unless you are using it even at work/school all the time, then a good long battery life will be significant useful.

Shorter battery life = battery drain faster = more you have to charge = faster battery degradation sets in. Simple logic what. And not everybody only uses their TWS while taking car/bus/train on the way to work or home. Some folks use it while working out or just want to sit down in peace listening to music. Can quite easily clock at least 3-4 hours of usage per day which is close to 1 full charge. There are people who don't mind charging once or twice per day but personally i am quite anal when it comes to battery life of my devices. I hate constantly having to charge my devices and i rather get a brand new one when obvious battery degradation sets in for my devices.

That's what I always advise too. Get tws below $100 or even below $50, can change every year or 2 since electronics stuff especially those with batteries dun last long. Afaik not able to change tws batteries too

I have a pair of wired sennheiser headphones more than 10 years old and still working. I seldom use them thou haha

Think a decent battery life would be 4 hrs, anything more is a bonus

Longer battery life as in the case itself or the tws? Tws itself charges quite fast sg 10mins in case will get another hour of usage? For the case, longer battery life means bigger case so that's a tradeoff

tws earbuds with longer battery life per usage will be better at "weathering" battery degrading.

A tws with 6-8 hours of battery life on day 1, if use daily for 1-2 hours, it will usually lose around 10% battery health by the end of Year 1.
By the end of 2nd year... maybe another 20-30%
By the end of 3rd year, usually the battery health will be around 40% to 50% of its original stamina....
and from 4th year onwards.... the battery life will start to get wacky.

and if we look across the field, Usually by the 3rd/4th year... A tws with 6-8 hours of battery life, would be reduced to around 2-3 hours of battery life.

but the good thing is....a lot of features which were previously found on premium & expensive tws earbuds are also finding their way to more affordable earbuds today and technology is getting better and better.
These two allow companies to make tws earbuds with longer battery life but still keep things in a small compact form factor.

One good example is the Blackdot Pro wireless earbuds:

91f6f3f61b34023c7e4c739058b8158c

The earbuds battery life is around 6-8 hours (Depending on volume level)
The charging case is able to provide another extra 40 hrs.
but the entire form factor is very small and compact.
Earphone size: 27x18x15mm
Charging case size: 44x44x35mm

Thou... a bad example is Creative Outlier series XDXD

besides that, nowadays I am seeing more and more wireless earbuds come with POWER ON/OFF touch commands... which allow users to power off the earbuds without putting them back to the case, once they are done with it.
And power the earbuds back ON when they wanna use it.
so... this power on/off command will reduce the need to always put the earbuds back into the case and keep re-charging (Unnecessarily)
lesser re-charging means lower number of charge cycles...
lower number of charge cycles also means slower battery degrading.

Go for wireless on-ear/over-ear headphones instead of TWS if you want something with much better battery life. The trade off will be less portability and for some, headphones are not comfortable for prolong wearing. But sony, sennheiser headphones and even budget offerings from edifier have really insane battery life compared to any earbuds. I used to have a pair of Edifier stax s3 planar headphones and the battery barely drops 5-6% after 1 week of use. But i still ended up selling it away as there is no way i could use it when i am outside due to the size.

Headphones more for home use imo, tws for outdoors, sports and commute
I personally uses a wired headphone at home thou

My 1more Comfobuds Pro not sure is case or earpiece gg. Without using it, the whole case drain dead in 1-2 days time. Unplug in the morning, end of the day probably left 40% battery in the case, without using in. Next day drop further until totally drain off then the earpiece will wake up and connect to my phone even when it's still in the case.

Went for warranty claim gave me 1 replacement set that I can't be sure if it's a refurb, a new or a used set as I see some stains (not scratches) at the bottom of the case. Staff said Comfobuds Pro discontinued if continue to face problem they will provide replacement Comfobuds 2 citing same price range but really I have checked that before, it's different category. Bought in August now is only December, 4 months and the battery can't retent charge already.

Some brands they engage 3rd party to handle warranty claims and servicing on their behalf. And these 3rd party in order to save cost, they use refurbished stock to do on the spot exchange. Has happened to me before.

I had a Soundpeats sonic tws where the charging case refused to charge after barely 3 mths. Went down to their supposed service center to do warranty claim. It was back during peak covid circuit breaker period and i was only allowed to wait outside of the office. Then their staff came back to me with what looked like a brand new set and i made the mistake of leaving without doing a check. But when i was back home, i saw that both the earpieces had paint peeling off and the charging contact area had discoloration which clearly was signs of prior usage. Remember my previous set was only 3 mths old and the set they exchanged for me was of a much worse condition. So yeah.....i have thoroughly condemned Soundpeats for good and any potential buyers should really take note of the local service centre's shady practise.

Also precisely why nowadays i rather save the money and get export set becuz after this experience, i feel local warranty really counts for nothing. Only big brands like sony, sennheiser and to some extent, samsung, can be trusted to properly honor warranty claims.
