Sharing my recent experience opening a CIMB MY account by CIMB SG @ Raffles place branch.
The below info was shared to me when I asked the CIMB bank staff who served me.

1. Need to book an appointment prior to going down to open a CIMB MY acct.
2. CIMB SG helps you to open a CIMB MY account by filling in the forms, verifying your details and sending them to CIMB MY for approval. You will need to bring your NRIC and Passport, ensure the PP expiry is not less than 6 months.
3. The CIMB MY account is "AirAsia savers" account. Annual fee is RM15 which is the cheapest among the rest.
4. CIMB MY account will closed once your passport expires.
5. To ensure CIMB MY account not closed prematurely, you have two options:
a. Go to CIMB MY bank, show them your old and new passport, so that they can update your CIMB MY account details.
b. Go to CIMB SG branch, tell them to assist you to update your CIMB MY account, they will assist you to fill in a form and submit to CIMB MY for approval.
6. CIMB SG don't accept RM for deposit. You will have to transfer SGD to RM via I-banking (CIMB Clicks SG app)
7. Only one CIMB MY debit card issued per account. Can't request for two or more.

If anyone has more to add to help others, please do so. Thanks.

For the appointment booking in point 1, have to call their hotline? Or is there a link in their website to make this appointment?

My CIMB debit card is expiring next month.

Do you mean I have to change to a new debit card at the branch in JB?
They won't send it to my SG address?
My acct was opened way before covid in JB and they sent a letter of dormancy to my SG address last year, asking me to use the acct before they closed it lol.
Called CIMB MY, they said I have to go to the branch to get a replacement debit card.
Will cost RM 12.

The account is tagged to passport ? So if passport is expired, we need to change the debit card also?
Did you open your MY account through CIMB SG? If so, bring old and new passports AND also your NRIC. Your card won't need to be changed if not expired, but it'll be blocked if not used for a certain period of time. Counter will settle everything for you.

If I'm not wrong, it's the branch at Pelangi... There's an old pakcik selling Apam Balik just outside.. very nice !
Yup, go to the Pelangi one. Saw the Apam Balik van and locals buying, while waiting for my Grab. 👍

aye why do people want to open MYR account ah with all the revolut and youtrip.

comparable interest rates?
also MYR is not a currency I would want to hold less I stay there.

ease of withdrawal/unexpected need for cash?
i dont think anyone who is just a casual daytripper would want to bank in more than SGD1k/MYR3.3k, the value might erode (/justsaying) more than you can save using youtrip/revolut.

I have a Maybank SG account
https://www.maybank2u.com.sg/en/per.../atm-services/regionlink-crossborder-atm.pageand I used to bring my Maybank card along but hardly ever have the need to use it.

for CIMB MY:
debit card: RM20k per day
ATM withdrawal: RM 10k per day
Online funds transfers:
3rd Party or any DuitNow: RM50k
DuitNow QR: RM 10k
Doesn’t mention limits for online purchases

My passport is expiring this year.
Last week, I got my new passport, so need to update my new passport details for my CIMB MY a/c.
Yesterday, the CIMB SG branch reluctantly helped me to courier the paperwork to the MY branch.
They tld me most likely the Malaysia branch will ignore the paperwork sent and I will need to do the follow up myself.
After 14 working days, I will share again the outcome.

Been there, done that. IMO find a weekday asap and head over to their Pelangi branch (if yours was opened in SG) with your old and new passport AND NRIC. Don't waste time waiting as they'll freeze your account and oh, bring the (debit?) card as well.

SG branch being reluctant coz they knew...
