Congrats for your double digit returns! I hope to hit double-digit this year too! But knowing my luck, market will probably crash after I say this ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ“‰
Thank you! I hope you get there too. It is going to be a tough here, but by EOY, my goal is to keep >10% return and continue beating S&P 500! ๐Ÿคž

Well done. Btw, the above chart shows that your portfolio returns in Jan were higher than now. Is it because of the sell off in Hang Seng Index ?

How does your portfolio returns look compared to Jan 2022 ? Remember S&P500 peaked in Jan 2022 and most portfolios are down compared to Jan 2022.

Ya, should be the sell off from HSI and SSE.

My 2022 one follows S&P 500 because they are mostly sold off.

Mar numbers in SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = 4.32%
YTD networth including new inflows = 5.05%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 31-Mar-2023 = 1.293 million SGD

Equity allocation 53%

In Mar, just continued my DCA of 6k into equities, also I received my income tax bill, so took a one time hit of 10.5k.
Apr numbers in SGD terms:
YTD networth excluding new inflows = 5.61%
YTD networth including new inflows = 6.72%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 30-Apr-2023 = 1.317 million SGD

Equity allocation 53%

In Apr, just continued my automatic DCA of 6k into equities.

Just barely ahead of S&P500 & Vanguard World. I should just give up stock-picking and buy Vanguard World only ๐Ÿ˜… At least the return is a lucky 8.8%. Even better would have been 8.88%!

Endowus dimensional global core equity fund
I am using endowus to invest in various dimensional funds as well. But recently i have been thinkin whether it is worth the 0.3% platform fee, given that there are alternatives like dfau + dfai or avde + avus

What is ur view?

depressing weekend for me. have a gain of near $65k shorting nq futures till Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday in 2 days lost $69k with nq shorts. wasted 12-14 hours looking at the market
daily for 4 months and paid 28k of commission. Only silver lining is that portfolio still green due
to individual stocks.

dimensional funds have some factor tilts which help better returns in the long term and in the US you cannot invest in dimensional funds without the help of advisor and that costs about 1% of AUM and still people who can prefer to invest in dimensional funds.

For me the main advantage with a fund v/s a broker account is that broker account kind of entices me to take leverage, do short term trading etc and also analysis paralysis watching the bid ask spread, fx rate etc. In the end I will do worse with a broker account. Hence I prefer an unit trust or fund structure, where I just transfer money in SGD and it gets bought with no questions asked.

So in summary, cost is important, but that is only if all else is equal and we know that all else is not equal.

Wow! I feel for you man. But you have balls of steel to hold those shorts until 65k profit. I close short term positions with tiny profits but hold losses for much longer. I am the lousiest trader and hence stopped trading.

Hi guys, just to share my networth. I invest mostly in properties and little in equities.

My networth in 2023 April is S$1.6 mil. I am 48 this year.
I count cpf plus the property I stay in which is our biggest investment.

My hubby's networth would be S$2.1 mil and he is 51 years old.

Jus to clarify, the tickers i mentioned also have factor tilts. But i hear ur other considerations, thanks.
