Energy price is one thing... but the initiative for OEM is failed itself... energy companies in the end cannot even survive... The idea is good but failed in execution and governance...
It failed because everyone buys from the same pool called SP wholesale.. they don't buy directly from genco.. everything has to go through SP.. if u allow genco to sell directly to consumer, prices probably will come down pretty fast, but go up fast also..

SP needs to earn money too..

At least no contract. Not much better I think, but no contract so can slowly wait for price be better for OEM then see want to re contract.
So far private providers not any better than SP right?

Switch back just top up deposit to SP loh.

Anyone knows the difference in Geneco standard price plan vs non-standard price plan in simple terms?

My contract was automatically renewed to the standard price plan of 28.30c as I didn’t do anything (still have 1 month grace period according to CSO). So I called them as I wanted to apply the recontract promo code. Still able to apply the promo code but it will be on the non-standard price plan, which is 28.30c also.

With the recontract offer of 28.30c per kWh it’s a non-standard price plan. Footnote says
  1. May not be inclusive of all applicable charges that vary according to the level of consumption.
  2. May change in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract
And for standard it says:
  1. Inclusive of all applicable charges that vary according to the level of consumption.
  2. Will not change throughout the contract duration.

So does it mean it’s better for me to stay on the standard price plan as they can’t change my rate in the event of a super high increase in rates?

camping to see what the price is going to be like.. but seems like power generation is now v close to power usage. so demand supply comes in, price may not come down

…no good deals, switch back to SP and wait for better deal.
Wait, you mean currently there’s no OEM that’s cheaper than SP rate? Can’t be right? Cos I recall there are OEM plans that offer a discount against whatever SP is offering, i.e. so it will definitely be cheaper, no?

Correct, it is good to switch to Senoko 2% DOT or 24 months 29.98c, which are both cheaper than SP and with sign up cash rebates like me.

What if oil prices drops, the SP electric tariff will be lowered. But with contract, you will be stuck for 2 yrs.

that's why it's a risk lor.. if you think oil prices will be coming down then don't sign contract yet.
