Never Ever buy a Daikin aircon

call 3rd party ad hoc la settle fast fast, cannot blame daikin as warranty gone after 6 years.

they used to be the no.1 air con brand though not sure what happened.

i called panasonic before, end up they also outsource to 3rd party contractor to troubleshoot

Yes. I casually asked my aircon maintenance contractor which is the most reliable brand now. He recommends Mitsubishi (forgot Starmex or Heavy Industry) and mentioned that the new Daikins have horrible reliability.

my starmex pcb spoil just after 5 years warranty ended, mitsubishi told me they don't service after warranty ends, asked me to find private contractors to do...
but then when it was working it worked well

Mitsubishi spare parts easier to find as what I'm told.

My compressor just broke down after 6 years. called Daikin and guess what, appointment for repair is 14 days later ! Nobody can tahan 2 weeks without aircon one.
One time charge is $129 (price increased 50%) not inclusive of component replacements.

Their thermistor also always spoil. The last time they came to replace my broken thermistor took total 3 months. Their aircon blower motor also not as strong nowadays, you find your aircon need more maintainence as the blower chokes easily. My greatest regrets in my renovation works is choosing Daikin. AVOID DAIKIN AT ALL COSTS.

6 years about time to replace liao. Nowadays most electrical appliances cannot go past 5 years.

Reliability of AC system depends a lot on the skill of the technician. As it's a high pressure closed loop even a minor mistake will causes it to have issues over the years. Unless that particular brand of AC electronics or the cooling coil unit itself have many problems then it's lousy else it's just the quality of installation.

Is Prism not a real ‘local’ brand? Thinking of getting this. They have good promotions.

Prism aircon you have to buy their maintenance package as from what I heard. Third-party contractors mostly have not touched their aircon parts before.

I also boycott daikin. Came with the condo so cannot choose. The compresssor breakdown multiple times after three years . Changed to another brand and redo the piping and never looked back

Carrier haven't daobi just that they focus more on commercial aircon now as it's more profitable. They still have residential aircon but it's just rebranded Midea, but don't seem to be available in SG.

Midea aircon is sold at some major retailers. I wanted to get their portable aircon at one time but was told their spare parts very difficult to get.

If out of warranty make more sense to get external to repair. My Daikin suffer from blower motor and some sensor issue.

Get it repair by 3rd party.
