can consider those hereJust like there is some control on what kind of investment can be used for cpf oa,sa and now srs, all i can think of is pure equity mutual fund. Basically is like ETF a basket of stocks underlying. But EFT supporters would cite the high expense ratio the fund is charging. My take is if the fund can perform good enough then it is worth to pay the high expense ratio. Don't ask me which mutual fund to buy just spend some time do research if cannot find any one at all then forget about this suggestion entirely.
I am not a srs lover so srs investment does not apply to me. I pay my taxes not siam paying using srs. This is me only.can consider those here

If your family all got short life history you will think otherwise as SRS is start take from age 65 onwards. My father and grandfather all died before age 70I see SRS as another means of forced savings for my retirement. I used SRS to buy TBills, SSB, endowment plans etc.

62 also not enough time to withdraw all by age 70 I think as over 40K withdraw each year need to vomit back the tax you siam last time65yo?
For me, I can withdraw them when I am 62yo. I applied for it a few years ago and locked in the withdrawal age at 62yo.

Noted that means your income tax lower tier. Its enough time for me! I think I will only have 150k over 10yrs. And at 62yo, I will withdraw 40k/yr. So, it will only take me 4yrs to withdraw all amt. I only use SRS to buy those low risk investment products. I am planning to retire at 55yo.
1) Annual income doesn't really matter. Should aim for total 80k deductible. Personally, I have not been contributing 15.3k for the past few years already, as other deductible such as CPF, Parents, Children, etc already close to 80k and if were to contribute 15.3k, it will go beyond 80k and the excess will have no tax benefit.Hi new to srs in a way .
1) Any quick guidelines on beyond what annual income may be good for srs... Understand max is sgd 15300....
2) Any guidelines or some table or web site where we can quickly understand the above .Any quick numbers
3) are there any charges for investing. srs in tbills plz on an annual basis ?
Any pointers are welcome ..ps I am intending to invest in the 1 year tbills using srs closing today
Any quick pointers are greatly appreciated
Cheers
I am aiming for 400k. That way, if spread over 10 years, each year take out 40k still can escape tax. I have started in my early 40s so 400k is achievable for me. I have since scaled back contributions due to 80k cap on tax deductible. My first full year of invest using SRS only generated 1.1k dividends. However, last year, my SRS portfolio generated 10.687k dividends. This year it is on course to generate about 12k. My total contribution so far is 128k and it has grow to slightly above 200k now. I still have slightly more than 10 years to go before hitting 62. So the accumulated dividends and fresh contribution should hit 400k by age 62. If God willing. Its enough time for me! Can we delay SRS withdrawal?I am aiming for 400k. That way, if spread over 10 years, each year take out 40k still can escape tax. I have started in my early 40s so 400k is achievable for me. Once you start, you must finish in 10 yrs. But you don't have to start until youre ready. Can we delay SRS withdrawal?
Yes. Good point on withdrawal above 40k.Once you start, you must finish in 10 yrs. But you don't have to start until youre ready.
I also think people don't need to be so fixated on 40k being the figure for annual withdrawal.
If you have less than 400k total, sure, withdrawing 40k means you don't pay tax (IF you have no other taxable income. If you do, then you will pay tax.)
Assuming no taxable income.
Withdraw 40k, no tax.
Withdraw 60k, $200 tax. (0.33% effective tax rate.)
Withdraw 80k, $550 tax. (0.69% effective tax rate.)
So even if you withdraw above 40k, the tax is really very minimal.

Just thought I'd bring it up because ppl seem to think of 40k, and 10 yrs.Yes. Good point on withdrawal above 40k.
Have to agree again and if I may add, some individuals may be able to withdraw the 'excess' of their CPF when they hit 55 if they have met FRS. Any 'excess' above FRS is withdrawable at the age of 55. So some may be able to look for steady stream of income starting from 55, then SRS at 62, then CPF life at 65. It would be even better if we have fully paid property because we can pledge the eligible property and any sum beyond BRS can withdraw at age 55.Just thought I'd bring it up because ppl seem to think of 40k, and 10 yrs.
But actually, SRS can only be withdrawn without penalty when you are 62 (or now 63).
And CPF Life starts from 65, latest 70.
So actually, SRS could be seen as a tool to bridge the gap from 62-65, or 62-70.
In other words, some might decide to plan for withdrawing all their SRS in 3-4 yrs. Or 7-8 yrs.
No real reason to fully use up all 10 years unless you really have a huge sum in your SRS.
