Don't get me wrong, when the link rate is at 10Gbps in the router's network status screen, those speeds are very achievable if you test at the right time of the day. Just that the daily use issues are a bit of a bummer coming from SI/VQ which has public IP address. The last time this happened to me was during the lockdown period on SH 2Gbps, same situation with everyone WFH and HBL. Haiz...
Not to say SI/VQ all hunky dory either. With their SFP+ transceiver handoff, although there's no ONT/ONR, still need to find router with SFP+ ports like Mikrotik, UDM Pro, Draytek, the Xiaomi 10000 or Wifi 6E/7 TP Link Archer and Deco series. To upgrade to another 10G Asus router, you need to get an SFP+ to 10GBaseT media converter. I've used it in my time with the GT-AXE16000 and the converter runs really hot, so always worried if it will shorten the lifespan.

I was really glad MR 10Gbps plan with ONT and 10GBaseT port came up a few months after my aborted encounter with StarHub UltraSpeed ONR. So a one-time 50 bucks fee to get a static IP to solve VOIP issues is acceptable for me.

Sir do you mind sharing how did you do that speed test for the one below? Thanks!

I tried searching for it but there are no SG servers

The speedtest app is done from my windows desktop.
the libre speed is a container service installed on my unraid server.

Both devices has its own 10G NIC (TPLink NT521, and Intel X550-T2).
They are connected to a 10G Switch (TPlink TL-ST1008).

oops my bad. i just realized that the libre speed is testing intranet from my server to my desktop. haha. of course 10G. its not testing WAN. ignore that.

LAN speedtest using librespeed is still a good test to prove that 10G internal home network is working.

WAN speed will be lower due to NAT and not fast enough router power (eg: CPU). Your WAN (Internet) speed achieved at 8Gbps+ is already very good.

Btw can help test and share the link result @ https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat , just curious to see how much waveform server can take the 10G beating which hosted under cloudflare CDN. :giggle:

As expected, it can not cope with 10G beating. :)

But it did exceed my expectation, as it can not even cope with 1Gbps from my past experiences.

Cool, thx.

Yeah, guess good enough test for those under 2.5Gbps plan.

Hey bro @TanRich , can help contribute your result too testing (if link rate happens at 10Gbps) from https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat too :giggle:

Currently on MR 10gbps gamer plan with static wan IP. No issues at all, especially those issues that he mentioned.

Tagging bro @georgesnor for testing https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat too :giggle:

Another interesting 2.5/10G CRS series (diff from CSS) managed switch from MikroTik for consideration. The key feature is that the 10G SFP+ ports is on the same switch chip with the 2.5G ports which will therefore support HW offload (line speed w/o taxing the CPU) and likely L3HW on RouterOS v7, not just as an up/down link switch.

Looks like this will be another popular choice for home lab for real power users.

Another review:

You have to use 3rd party image host service like IMGUR.

Excellent A+ score, but the waveform.com server can not really handle 10Gbps (more suitable for 2.5Gbps).

If the speed keep dropping down to such low speed then it will not be wise to sign up such 10Gbps plan. Best to wait till it is fully launched.

You never read the post properly. The speed drop is due to the waveform.com server which can not cope with 10Gbps at all.

That's what I thought too. Wondering why the speed was so low.

Then I did three consecutive speed tests on Ookla and the results are roughly in line with what bro sg_rangers had posted. Ignore the highest speed as that's from SI plan not MR.

Like that it looks like MR is not so stable.

Called singtel as well, my install is in a few days time, they said the ONR will be installed in router mode first, then I have to request to convert it to bridging via call or live chat after the installation. Apparently there's some terms like agreeing singtel not responsible after the ONR but once agreed they can switch the ONR to bridge mode.
Called again a few days after installation, unfortunately I got connected to Singtel's most useless agent. He clearly had very little technical knowledge and was more interested in why I wanted bridge mode rather than fulfilling my request. He was also a know-it-all and proclaimed that it is technically impossible to configure bridge mode for all plans except the 1+1 Gamer Plan because "it had to be done at the factory when the ONRs are made"

Regardless, I've found the menu option to switch from full ONR to Hybrid and full ONT mode in the ZTE F8648P. Only issue is that it will force a factory reset of the ONR and you will need Singtel's config details, (the default config appears to be outdated).

Will be calling Singtel again for the config details. Hope I don't get another useless agent.
