From another user who posted in this forum. Tsammyc or something like that
The main 5Ghz and 2.5Ghz bands extend very well with the BE230 Easymesh.
as mentioned by @xiaofan , the issue with Easymesh is the guest and IOT networks not being extended by the satellite nodes. If you don’t run separate guest and IOT networks, the BE230 mesh is a stable and fast mesh with Ethernet backhaul.

Hi @xiaofan and community,

Been a Singtel user using ONT with their 1+1 Gamer Bundle, Contract is expiring in may.

I been hesitant on recontacting with them as i don't want to continue using their Singtel Routers and as i just found out their ONRs

I am currently looking at My Republic's 10Gbps plan with ASUS ROG GT-BE25000. but still i am abit unsure if i should commit..

i want to get a 10Gbps Wifi 7 router to future proof it my home, thus deciding to go with the Asus routers as i am currently using an asus router and is quite happy with it.

i could get a separate 10Gbps plan and get the router separately too but am unsure on the approach.

Open to any recommendations and suggestion on this.

Thanks

MR's GT-BE25K pretty worthwhile imo, MSRP of the router already 1.1k.
24mths contract amounts to approx. 1.7k inclusive of the $150 top up. Note that there's a installation charge of $59.90 too.

Feel free to correct me if my calculations is wrong.

believe your calculation is correct that why i find it more worthwhile to go MR's as only they offer that router.. but is it the right choice to go in just for the router? :o

I mean, MR stability is still acceptable but if compared to the past before takeover, of course there's a difference.
Gamer plan also purportedly provides better routing/latency (can't recall exactly which) as compared to the rest.
If cost not a hard concern, sure why not since it's almost like the best plan you can get in the market now as compared to the router offerings like TP-Link.
I personally prefer ASUS, and GT-BE25K is the highest 10Gbps spec ASUS router currently available anyways.

IMO, 2 bird kill 1 stone. :s13:

But of course, please assess your own needs and other's comments/sharings before you make your choice.
I not MR salesman/harcore supporter, just assessing based on practical needs and value provided from my personal view & opinions.
Once commit liao, don't think so much. :o 🙃

If you are willing to pay, just go ahead. ROG GT-BE25000 (same as ROG GT-BE98) should be good for the next 4 to 6 years.

I wanted to share my experience with the MR 10Gbps Plan (standard plan, not the gamer plan) after using it for a month now.

1) Initial installation: issues directly after installation - disconnected every 15-20 seconds. Jumped through a lot of hoops on my end after speaking with MR support (change cables, changed the SFP modules, reset router, etc etc....). At the end, it turned out that the Nokia ONT provided was faulty. MR replaced it 3 days later, and since then, the connection has been stable.

2) Speed:
1 week of hourly speed tests showed the following download and upload speeds.

Download is good and is quite stable (some hick-ups here and there) with an average speed of 6.5Gbps
Upload is a different matter and fluctuates a lot depending on the hour of the day/quite random. Average speed comes in at 3.3Gbps.

Note: Speedtest is done with a 10Gbps wired PC behind the Router/Firewall -> realistic throughput on the LAN I can get between router and PC is 7+Gbps. So the network is not limiting the results.
Important: Speedtest always connects to local Singapore servers -> real use to overseas servers/pages etc will give a very different experience, of course.

In summary, quite happy with it so far, now that it is stable.

Is 10Gbps needed even when you have the infrastructure at home to support it?
No, not a real difference in experience for my day-to-day use from the previous 1Gbps plan I was on (limiting factor is the international connection and the receiving server anyway)

Maybe this thread can be retired. Previously XGS-PON based 3Gbps/5Gbps/6Gbps/10Gbps plans were new. Now they are the main plan offered by the ISPs.
