Just a guess. Cause my xirr up and down also back to around 0%. It's like invest for nothing.
In that case you need to figure out the reason for the same and take corrective action.

The opportunity cost is much higher now with other alternatives paying 3-4% pa.

Sep numbers in SGD terms:

YTD networth excluding new inflows = 9.82%
YTD networth including new inflows = 13.99%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 30-Sep-2023 = 1.428 million SGD

My portfolio is down a bit this month, SGD fell by about 1% so that helped cushion the portfolio fall a bit. Now one more quarter left, hopefully we can have a year end rally.
Oct numbers in SGD terms:

YTD networth excluding new inflows = 8.27%
YTD networth including new inflows = 12.85%

Networth 1-Jan-2023 = 1.228 million SGD
Networth 31-Oct-2023 = 1.409 million SGD

Markets were hit badly this month, if feels like we have hit a near term bottom and we can have a small rally until the end of the year, hopefully.

Well done.

I think majority of your investment gains are coming from the India holdings in your portfolio.

You are probably outperforming a lot of SG REIT investors

Actually last year end was bad for me, so the starting point is low base.

My fixed income is mostly Indian bond funds. Last year towards end INR depreciated suddenly but this year it has been flat.

But I think going forward developed markets offer better yields than EMs. Also EM currency like INR might come under pressure. This year was I was lucky.

Mine are mostly in safer areas like properties, T-bills, SSBs, fixed deposits, bank shares, CPF etc. So my overall gain is typically just 3% per year. Slow but steady, and barely sufficient to beat inflation 🐌

Nice mini-rally this week. Fortunately I decided to 'buy the dip' by bringing forward my November DCA of VUSD and VWRD to end of October so I got a small 'discount' on the ETFs. I also bought LLOY, LGEN and GSK last week.

More significantly, while my portfolio tracked Vanguard World closely, there was a big divergence after July 2023. Fortunately, the gap has closed and I hope to match VT's performance this year. 2.6% more to my target 10% return for 2023.... so close, yet so far 🤔 📉 📉 📉

Nice 3+% rally so far. Think MTD return is finally positive although still about 8% below the year high at the end of July.

My gut feeling is we are unlikely to return to the consistently upward trending market in the US going forward and US markets will also become like rest of the world markets, range bound and dividend gains is the only gains.

That's why a lot of people don't make money, depend too much on gut feeling rather than the data.

If you believe that the market is range bound then you can sell options to make money, dividend gains is not the only way to make money.

10% performance target reached (but losing badly to Vanguard World). Hope for 1 more month of green so I will have double digits in 2023 :ROFLMAO:

Most of the time his "gut feeling" all salah, esp his "doom calls".
