Top up of $200 is only for the colour and does the larger MB has any significant benefit over the MSI Pro B650M-a Wifi? If not, I think I will stick to your recommended MSI.
there are some enthusiast features like the fully featured 20gbps type c with displayport and power delivery support, along with pcie gen 5 support. whether those will be of benefit to ur daughter is up to her use case, but if just gaming probably not (the aero g is more targeted towards content creators).
Is there any recommendation for a white PSU that is of similar value? if not, I will go with your route since Lancool 216 has the PSU hidden below and I don't think it will be too obvious.
do note the lancool 216 psu shroud is mesh, so the psu is somewhat visible. there are some good psus in white from corsair and seasonic floating around but they are a lot more expensive (>$170).
Can we separately get the psu cable extensions? How to go about buying? Does it come as a set? Cost?
yea the extensions are a separate purchase, so just find them at ur regular pc parts retailers, price depends on what u get. u may not need them if u get a psu that has white cables from the get go though.
I will try to find the Asrock 7800XT steel legend if possible. I see that ASUS TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7800 XT OC Edition 16GB GDDR6 (white) is selling at Dynacore for $885. Worth the additional cost?
885 is very expensive for a 7800xt, u might as well get a 4070 for that price. the asus cooler is very slightly better than the steel legend, but i dont think it is worth that much more.
I notice that SN850x has 2 versions. Is it one with heatsink and one without? So for the recommended MSI MB, which one should I go for?
the one without, the mobo already provisions a nvme heatsink so if u get the nvme with heatsink u will need to take the provided heatsink off to put it in the main nvme slot, defeating the purpose of buying the heatsink variant in the first place.
My earlier build this year used the black Lancool 216. The mesh design is good but it seems to allow more dust going in? I can see a thin layer of dust inside my son's PC now. I was contemplating whether to upgrade the casing to Montech King 95 Pro (it has proper filter all round) but it seems that the white casing is out of stock. If there is white, do you think it is a worthwhile upgrade?
thermally the king 95 pro may not be as good since it does not appear to allow as much airflow, but it does offer a panoramic aesthetic vs a more conventional pc design. so depends on what u prioritise, i dont think they are very comparable anyway.
I realized that PS120SE does not come in white. So will Peerless Assassin 120 SE WHITE ARGB is ok as replacement? I suppose this can clear the RAM. Or I go back to ID-cooling SE-226-XT ARGB (White)?
as mentioned previously, any of these tower coolers will do fine on a 7500f. i would get the cheapest one in white.
@NightRaven49 : i think if wan to swap out to x3d then shud just go 7800x3d right?
if u want make the jump to 7800x3d, that will be very costly as u not only have to get a cpu, u also have to replace the mobo and ram, and u might as well build a whole new pc at that point. but as mentioned before, u can run ur 5800x with ur new gpu first, then consider upgrade if the gpu is being held back (not reaching 100% utilisation). i feel 5800x3d is a good enough upgrade if u need to since ur already on am4, alongside being cost effective both in terms of money and effort.
but some of u say change psu, some say dun change this part i dunno if my rm750 is enough for the 4080. I thought they require more power? Therefore initially i thought psu is a must change
nvidia recommends 750w for the 4080. these recommendations usually have a lot of headroom to account for spikes, but if u go find reviews u will notice that full system draw is typically only around 450-500w in gaming, so u dont always need to follow their recommendations 100%. personally have run gpus with underpowered psus without issue (eg 5700xt on 450w).
Just curious, newer mobo have multiple pcie slot to support multiple pcie ssd?
most except the most budget models have multiple slots. do check the product page to double confirm, some mobos may run different speeds on different slots or even disable nvme slots based on what other sata or pcie devices u plug into the board too.
