to add on, all am5 cpus except -f (eg 7500f) have igpu too, so u dont have to worry as much about getting the right cpu. that said, am5 is significantly more expensive than am4, a basic 7600 + mb is easily double a 4600g combo before considering the jump from ddr4 to ddr5.

for the price of that 14600k + mobo, i would go for a ryzen 7 7700 combo instead. if ur open to sourcing from other shops, u can get the adata xpg core reactor which is a known good unit for a similar if not lower price and 3 more years of warranty from pckaki/perf pc, and u can get the cooler from pc themes for a very slightly cheaper price too.
thanks for the reply

It's about time to overhaul my Zen 3 rig as the warranty is all out except my 3080ti (which I'm still thinking if I want to upgrade to the 4080 super or use back and wait for the 5080)

Haven't been really keeping up to date with hardware developments so did a quick rig parts list:

AMD 7950X3D + Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero ~ $2158
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360mm AIO ~ $183
G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 32GB Kit CL30 ~$213
RTX 4080 Super [Placeholder] ~ $1600
Lexar NM790 M.2 Gen 4×4 NVMe 1TB (OS Drive) ~$120
Transcend MTE220S M.2 Gen 3x4 NVMe 1TB (Game Drive) ~ Use back
Lexar NM790 M.2 Gen 4×4 NVMe 2TB (Work/Dev/Photo Drive) ~$189
Seasonic Vertex GX 1000w 80+ Gold Gen 5 ~ $300
Fractal Design Meshify 2 TG ~ $227
Arctic P14 PWM PST x 6 ~ $108

Total ~ $5100

As this is my work/play rig thus the higher end parts which I hope will last me for the next 3 years like my current 5900x rig.

Also looked at the Lexar NM79p which has a good TBW thus selected it. I'm OK for "slower" speeds for endurance and lower temps.

Open to suggestions for better parts instead of those in the list.

Thanks in advance :)

Good Day All.

My faithfull Intel Core i5-6500 Desktop PSU died.
Will be getting the upcoming AMD 8700G CPU.
It has been 8 years since I build a desktop.
Thus am seeking assistance on what will be the best setup for a mini ITX build.

Principle considerations:
- Setup should last me 5 to 10 years.
- Am not gamer, don’t play 3D games, but hope that I can play Starcraft II with it.
- Will not be getting a dedicated graphic card for now, but might get one in the future.

CPU: AMD 8700G
CPU cooler (Do I need one?):
Motherboard (Prefer ASUS but am open to suggestions):
RAM (32GB/64GB and minimum DDR5-6000):
1TB NVMe SSD:
PSU (Modular 80+Gold and be able to support a future dedicated graphic card setup):
CPU mini ITX case (Be able to support a future dedicated graphic card setup):

And where can I buy online genuine OEM Win 11 Pro CD key

Thanks for assistance :)

anyone ever used Dynabook SSD? It claims to be Toshiba. Why so cheap? Half the price of western digital same specs.

I am looking to have an matx pc build. Budget around 1500. Seems dynacore have the lowest mobo+cpu combo. With 7500f cpu,
Asus b650m tuf plus - 526
Asus b650m-e tuf - 476
I could see just some minor difference on these mobos, just on some usb or some ports.

Msi b650m mortar - 512
Gigabyte b650m gaming x ax - 520
Gigabyte b650m ds3h - 494
These 3 are also options but lacks the pcie 5.0.

Which of those do you recommend? Will be mainly used for games like d4.

Hello everybody, I went to SLS last Friday and bought several pc parts from Tradepac base on the @NightRaven49's recommendation but a lot of stuff oos and price went up a little.

- Ryzen 5 5600 + Gigabye b550m DS3 AC (Asrock b550m WiFi SE no stock) : 295
- Patriot 3600 16gb x 2 : 100
- WD 1tb black sn850x : 120

Reused the following from my old pc:
- Tecware M2 forge
- Superflower 550w gold
- Zotac Gtx 960 2gb

As it has been like 5 years since I upgraded pc, are the parts I bought good enough and recommendation for new casing?
Games I play are D2R and POE.

personally if i still have a good user experience with my current rig, i would just stick with it, just bcos the parts are no longer under warranty doesnt mean they become unusable. chances are it will continue to run well long after warranty expires, and by the time something does break, prices for ur current build list will likely be lower or a new gen of parts with more performance for the same amount of money might even be available. 5900x + 3080ti is still no slouch these days.
CPU: AMD 8700G
CPU cooler (Do I need one?):
probably not, it should come with a decent enough box cooler. i dont think u need to go up the 8700g though, 8600g should probably be enough for starcraft.
Motherboard (Prefer ASUS but am open to suggestions):
nowadays dynacore's asus tuf b650m-e am5 bundles are amongst the cheapest locally.
RAM (32GB/64GB and minimum DDR5-6000):
cheapest ive seen such kits locally are adata kits, around 170. but if ur ok with amazon, there might be better deals.
1TB NVMe SSD:
local ssd prices are bad now, upper midrange ones are $100 or more (they used to be closer to $70). still, theres the lexar nm790, adata s70 blade or crucial p5 plus that are just under $100 in sls. again, amazon may have better deals.
PSU (Modular 80+Gold and be able to support a future dedicated graphic card setup):
the best deal ive seen is the adata xpg core reactor for about 120.
And where can I buy online genuine OEM Win 11 Pro CD key
quite easy to find, most online places have for cheap. even carou have.
With 7500f cpu,
Asus b650m tuf plus - 526
Asus b650m-e tuf - 476

i would go for the asus tuf -e, as it is not only the cheapest but also has one of the more fleshed out feature sets like pcie gen5 as u mentioned.

Thank you NightRaven49 for your insight.

Here is what I have in mind now.

ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-E WIFI + 7500F
486
Dynacore
ADATA Lancer Blade RGB 32GB (16x2) | DDR5 6000MHz CL30 RAM
155
Techyard
Samsung 990 Pro | PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD 1 TB
139
Techyard
LIAN LI SP750 750W 80+ Gold SFX PSU
157
Bizgram
Tecware Fusion Steel
77
Techdeals
Gigabyte RTX4060 Eagle OC 8GB Triple Fan GDDR6
449
Dynacore
TOTAL 1463

I'll wait a bit for the amd 7600 xt gpu with 16gb vram. Hopefully its less than 500. I want Jonsbo D30 for the case but it is not locally available. Or maybe Silverstone PS15 if Tecware Fusion thermal is not good or cable management is difficult...

Hi guys, erm like almost 10 years never build PC already, so wanna ask here, is this build at $2,026 good to go?

I will change RAM & Windows to:
G.SKILL RIPJAWS S5 DDR5 6400MHz 32GB(16GBx2) CL32 KIT
Win 11 Pro Unactivated

Mainly playing FIFA and some COD (not Pro level type lah) :D

thats a good price for ram.

tecware fusion doesnt need sfx psu, regular atx also can. suggest u go for the adata xpg core reactor 750w from pckaki for less than $120, has double the warranty too.

the d30 is available on taobao, along with its successor the d31. if u get it on weekends u can get it (or the tecware fusion) via free air shipping since it costs more than 249rmb. cable management isnt too difficult in the fusion since u can remove all the panels. i think the ps15 has been oos for quite long though, havent seen it anywhere since a few years ago (at least for a good price).

personally id go with their 7500f + 7800xt for $500 less, more gpu performance (esp for cod) with comparable cpu performance in games. then id upgrade the ram and psu, which shouldnt cost much more than 1.6k total.

Thanks bro, i'll try and check it out!

Yes RAM changed to 6000Mhz 32GB CL36

You're right about $1.6 :D

Would a 750W be sufficient or should i change to 850W ones? :)

extremely overkill. id just get a 7800x3d + 4080super (when it comes out)/7900xtx build with 80-90% of the performance of this build for half the cost.

not worth getting the 4090 now....now $1k more than almost 10 months ago..

Only really useful in games like CP2077 with Overdrive mode AND an OLED monitor (even with max settings on a non-OLED monitor, the graphics is nice but not eye popping, on my own comparison

and 5090 coming end of 2024/early 2025. THEN maybe really play max settings HDR on a OLED 4K monitor or TV without DLSS....
