As long as the system achieved their objectives, the inconvenience incurred on the commuters is none of their business.
It is the "responsibility" of the individual commuters to perform their due diligence.

I am just waiting to laugh when the whole gig to breakdown after every one start to overload it.
i hope after JUne 2024, they are hit with data center issue, then whole damn thing goes down, chaos everywhere. and after recovery, how to know the amount in accounts is correct?

Do they have a plan B if the network down ?

the banks so rich and big, also have regulation on redundancy, look what happened when aircon in data center breakdown? also fail

Dun worry.
It is a pretty SOP thing now.
They will only "upgrade" when the system break down.

1. nonsense. ppl still have to check if they scanned successfully. i.e. they need to see the simplygo msg come out, means people still need to look, might as well put more info.
ppl checking if can simply go or not, is faster than people need to read numbers. There are visual ( green/red) and audio cues to assist on that part.

2. i don't believe the older system cannot be tracked, if not last time how lta plan their routes and stuff?!?
3. i think older system allows users to look at their past trips by scanning their cards on their nfc-enabled phones that have the ezlink app. i don't think i remember it wrongly but i could be wrong here.

Notice I said "better" tracking. EZLink cards can be bought anonymously so while LTA can get data, it's not as finegrained or detailed. With card tagged to account, you can get data like >80% of A job type will use public transport at this timing rather than that timing compared to B job type.

For even stronger verification, the app allows them to further verify cross-reference personal data with card account and transport data. I don't use SimplyNoGo yet so not sure what other permissions the app might request for. But if they have geolocation permission, then LTA can further analyse movement patterns.

my hp will be single point of failure and make my life depend on HP
that's what everyone must do in order to live in a new smart nation anyway. if you can't catch up then you are better off migrate to other backward laid back countries to live

i give them my ezlink card id.

they say my card is simplygo card but it is not a simplygo card yet, and to be simplygo card, i need to upgrade
I guess you need to update your initial posting.
There are still some more steps that you need to perform to complete the conversion.

tbh, if ur phone can't scan, most probably is ur phone problem

anyway do u rem the good old days when there was only ez link cards....SO MANY PPL STUCK AT THE GATES because

1) not enough balance
2) card expired
3) other nonsense

I daresay last time more failures :s13:

I took mrt to work for almost a year, I pay with my CC on my phone, zero issues and it was good because i never had to worry about insufficient balance and don need to top up, which was a pain to me

The more parts/complexity involved, the higher the chance that something breaks and the whole system doesn't work properly. So I don't bother to use phone/watch/CC for public transport. Just keep at least 2 (usually 3) cards on me so if somehow expire/run out of balance without realizing it, always have the other card. It also act as backup for other family members.

Currently there 2 ezink card: The old ezlink card and the new ezlink card called simplygo ezlink card

simplygo ezlink card can use as it is mean it will display fare unless you change to simplygo function (the one with app etc...) aka account based simplygo ezlink card

aka
simplygo ezlink card that display fare
or
simplygo ezlink card that is account based so you can use the app etc....

see this picture by LTA

update: i called ezlink
they say my card got the simplygo logo mean it not simplygo until i convert

at the mrt machines they added this new requirement for upgrade - if you have a purple CEPAS logo on your card - need to upgrade. Both my so called simply GO EZ-Link cards were affected by this Purple CEPAS.

No only we're confusing. I approached a MRT staff yesterday asking my PAssion NS50 card still can be used. She told me 1 moment they're told just need to upgrade it then can liao. Then they're told cannot later. She told me to hold on to the EZlink card for now. May be waited till next month or later then can really tell what's really going on. What's this LTA doing???
I think later they will tell you that this card was issued by PA so have to go back to PA for further action.
