That's why I choose SH over MR

My 8-port 10Gbps switch is getting populated

1x incoming
3x outgoing to different rooms
1x outgoing to kitchen
1x outgoing to balcony
2x outgoing for future use like 10Gbps NAS etc

My now MoCA 2.5 and power ethernet adapter can move to the WiFi 7 router's 2.5Gbps ports
Wow, curious why you so fast upgrade to all 10G equipment, now still so expensive. Wait a few years prices would drop. Do you have equipment that can actually make full use of 10G now (besides your NAS)?

8 port 2.5G switch about $70+ on aliexpress. Much cheaper and less heat / power consumption.

Which phones brand and model has wifi 7? So far not in Sg. If buy overseas then how to serve it when there is issue with the phone? Actually with wifi 6 phone, this Wifi 7 router will also help to speed up a bit say 800 to 900Mbps so it is not too slow too. If use Laptop with wifi 6 with this router it will be faster too. Now with Nokia wifi 6, i already can get 1.5Gbps on my Laptop with Wifi 6. It is beyond the traditional speed of 1Gbps.

Samsung S24U and ASUS Zenfone 10 (bought overseas). Waiting to test them out

Yes that is right to chose SH. Some may say without the router and Premier it will be cheaper but actually it may not be right to say that as ISP may not deduct the price of Premier if it is taken away so it is more value for money with Premier bundled.

Yes this two phones can be very fast with WiFi 7 but even with Netflix premium it is just 25mbps bandwidth required so we will hardly use the remaining extra bandwidth and that is the reason why i do not want to buy it. I just hope we can have faster data speed at a lower price as data is good on the go where ever we are. Now my data is 300Mbps or less. So very slow.

If count it this way, then the Homehub+ ultra speed at $89/mth is like 10 Gbps internet FOC because Netflix premium is $25 and Primier also $25 and Viu Premium and Disney+ Premium and BBC Player and Bein Sports Connection app and TV+ Pro $15. That is why i am quite sure that SH is not counting it that way. With or without the FOC thing still consider the same price of $69.90. May be 2026 without contract without router is $69.90. If no contract is cheaper than sign contract then who will sign the contract. Simple reasoning.

Starhub is not the only ISP in Singapore and many do not need the contents.

I maintain my prediction.

Good to try 10Gbps plan and WiFi 7.

But in reality mobile phones are not really the good justification to go with either WiFi 7 or 10Gbps.

But anyway it is not expensive to upgrade desktop or laptop to have WiFi 7 adapters. It is also not too expensive to upgrade desktop to have 10G network adapter.

So it is still a good move for you, especially you have the 10G switch now and prepare to get 10G capable devices later.

SH 10 Gbps from my review, Nokia ONR 10 gbps port ( Bridge Mode ) to HB800 10 gbps Wan port to 10 Gbps 5 port Switch to other room port.

Now 10 Gbps basic no buffing and lagging, access to website faster compare to ST 1 Gbps need buffing when my wife watching drama from online.

So waiting for replacement of laptop or Ipad with wifi 7 when existing device spoilt. That all.

I now have

OWC 10Gbps TB Pro Dock
OWC 10Gbps TB3 Ethernet Adapter
2X 10Gbps TP-LINK 5/8-port unmanaged switches
CAT 6a/CAT 7 LAN lines

Will upgrade my 2x laptops WiFi cards to WiFi 7 later. 10Gbps NAS will come much later

FYI if you want to upgrade to the BE200 wifi card, only compatible with intel CPU. Also need Windows 11 22H2 iirc

I know ppl say not to choose ISP based on router given but considering 10gbps plans now all come with wifi 7 routers which aren’t cheap, i think the router given is quite important.

Starhub $69.95 comes with TP-Link EB810v & with $15 extra per month you get a second unit EB810v. MR $59.99 with one off $50 top up comes with TP-Link Archer BE805. Singtel $86 comes with TP-Link HB810 & with extra $16.80 per month you get a second unit TP-Link HB810.

All 3 routers not cheap of course but would like the experts’ advice on which of the 3: EB810v, BE805 or HB810 is the “best” router?

EB810v - 22000Mbps cw 3x2.5Gbps LAN ports

BE805 - 19000Mbps cw 4x1Gbps LAN ports

HB810 - 22000Mbps cw 2x2.5Gbps and 1x 10Gbps SFP+ LAN ports

Forget the BE805 for its max speed is lowest.

HB810 is good if you use fiber optics for the SFP+ port. Anyway you still need to pay a module to convert to 10Gbps Ethernet LAN port. The 2x 2.5Gbps LAN ports can also be put to good use for 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps devices

EB810v - With a 10Gbps switch this makes a good router. You can connect 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps devices to the 3x 2.5Gbps LAN ports

So looks like between EB810v and HB810 but the former is starhub using ONT & their second unit is a bit cheaper a month. Latter is singtel using ONR & second unit a bit more ex a month. And of course SH monthly is about $20 cheaper. Looks like SH liao. Lol

Noob here. Looking at starhub’s FAQ page, assuming i get 2 units of EB810v from starhub one shot & they set up as EasyMesh for me using wired backhaul, would my set up be something like this?

LIVING ROOM
- ONT to first unit EB810.
- RJ45 cable from one 2.5G lan port to tv in living room.
- RJ45 cable from one 2.5G lan port to tv in bedroom.
- 10G lan out to second unit EB810 in bedroom.

BEDROOM
- RJ45 cable from living room’s EB810 to the 10G wan port in bedroom’s EB810.
- Lan cable from bedroom’s EB810 to my mac mini.

Is this correct? If so i presume my mac mini would have 10gbps connection right?
