But many Singaporean Chinese are new citizens.

I've found that although the new citizens are quite different from our born and bred Singaporean Chinese, their kids are strikingly similar in many ways. Coz they have to go thru the education system.

And that's the value of the imports, that their kids and their own kids will assimilate until cannot tell the diff.

Will take at least one generation. Just need to control the flow.

Wrong. We are 华裔(Chinese descent) not 华侨（overseas prc citizens). Please know the difference.

If born in a sovereign country and hold the citizenship there then no longer counted.

Ethnicity is Chinese. But oversea Chinese means you still belong to China lol

China's definition of overseas Chinese has a different connotation and expectations.

It is similar to the communism era after WW2 when some true overseas Chinese in this region raised funds for China and created political parties to spread communism.

Hua qiao are people born in China. So all the new citizens born in china are hua qiao and china still consider them their citizens and theirs to control.
