Actually there are a lot of Singtel subscribers who pays premium price for sub 200mbps quality.

My relatives... some still can defend for them ' oh because the technician said many Singtel subscribers in this block so the network is slow'... what bs.

Actually very true, many of them are using the Singtel ONT/ONR + Singtel provided wireless router or lousy Singtel Mesh solution.

My first advice for them is not to upgrade to Singtel 2Gbps plan or Singtel 2.5Gbps plan. Singtel salesman likes to knock the door and ask if the WiFi is good or not. When the people say WiFi is not good, they will recommend the 2Gbps plan with lousy Singtel mesh solution.

And in fact if using Singtel ONR, then Whizcomms 2.5Gbps plan at S$21.80 will be quite a good replacement. Then the savings can be used to buy a better mesh solution.

Reference: SIMBA 2.5Gbps vs WC 2.5Gbps vs Singtel 2.5Gbps.

Just saw Simba 10gbps is launching at $29.99. Lucky nvr signup their 2.5gps offer.

I hv registered my interest for this 10gps offer.

Alrdy wired whole hse with OM4 fibre and 10Gbe managed switches/pcie sfp+ cards.
Now itch to change to switches/card to SFP28/QSFP.
Running windows/linux VMs from my DIY NAS already fast in my home network. Even remotely using the VMs via web browsers at work is good enough even though still on 1gbps Singtel plan (ONT).
Also waiting a little longer until more Wifi 7/ 10gbe routers to fill the market. Not going the pfsense route. Too many DIY projects already, PC/Workstation/NAS/Fibre wiring/tp points etc, not including non IT ones. Anyway, one mistake on my part is another point of failure.

If you do have recommendation for cheap QSFP switches which are mainly passive do share. The market now is flooded with SFP+ and 2.5Gbe which are priced under 100, which actually helps for users moving to 2.5Gbe plans.

IMHO, it's not practical to run 10Gbe copper at the moment given the high heat output, and going down the OM4 fibre route would future proof your setup for at least a good 2 decades.

I believe hit or miss.
look most people vocal when bad. But silent when fine.
i run dual singtel and simba. Singtel as failover. Simba run okay. Would like pub v6 but if not who cares its only $20 meh. Steam download quick torrents run fine. Dont see problem.

When u lay OM4 cables, how do you terminate both ends?

Usually laying copper cables it's just RJ45 on both ends.

is xiaomi be3600 a good router for simba 2.5?

I would recommend Xiaomi BE6500 Pro instead. Xiaomi BE7000 is even better. I myself got the ZTE BE7200 Pro+ as I do not like the form factor of Xiaomi BE 7000.

Based on the tests, Xiaomi BE3600 may not be better than the older and cheaper Xiaomi AX3000T.

Xiaomi BE3600 has only 256GMB RAM and single 2.5G port.
XIaomi BE6500 Pro has 1GB RAM and quad 2.5G ports.
Xiaomi BE7000 has a faster CPU than Xiaomi BE6500 Pro, 1GB RAM and quad 2.5G ports.

List of China version WiFi 7 routers (no 6GHz, no 320MHz channel bandwidth): in general I do not quite recommend lower cost BE3600 grade ones.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/wifi-7-routers.6905228/#post-147664804

My recommended China version of WiFi 7 router now.
Xiaomi BE10000 triband (dual 10G ports, maybe good for 10G plans): RMB1499 [high end]
Xiaomi BE7000 (quad 2.5G ports, good match for 2.5G plans): RMB799
Xiaomi BE6500 Pro (quad 2.5G ports, good for 2.5G plans): RMB699
ZTE BE7200 Pro+ (中兴问天BE7200Pro+, dual 2.5G ports, good match for 2.5Gbps plans) RMB 599
TP-Link TL-7DR6560 BE6500 (quad 2.5G ports, good match for 2.5G plans), RMB 559

Does anyone whos using currently simba has any issues connecting with their ip cameras?

Im looking to get the 2.5gpbs or 10gps plan for my parents and i will be using my existing eufy 5 ip cams to monitor their new bto in punggol.

Not a technical person but read earlier posts in this thread that simba's broadband does not allow ip cams?

Any idea when simba will be launched in punggol?

Thanks

If you have CGNAT issues, look into using Zerotier to connect the ipcam.

NVM not quite applicable, you need to run the zerotier client on the router/ recording pc or device. A standalone ipcam probably cant.
