Mirrorless fullframe lor. See if have adapter for your Nikkor lens.

For travel, 1 tele, 1 50mm f1.2 should be enough

Will be travelling to Europe. My last DSLR camera was Nikon D90 which I bought in 2008 and is still working well.

I have lent it to a family member and am thinking of getting a new one. It’s quite heavy in any case and I know technology has improved by many moons and stars, so would like to get a new one.

Any photographer hobbyist who’s able to make recommendations? Thinking of getting back Nikon for the familiarity.
I went through the same process switching from nikon dslr and compromising on hand phones. Had hands on fuji xt20 borrowed from relatives and eventually settled on Sony aps-c mirrorless

if u stick to nikon with z mount, the adaptor is another 200gm thereabout but u can use your f mount lens.

I switch to Sony is simply because I’m not sure if I want to go back to heavy setup so I pick the lightest lens combo and Sony/3rd parties seems to have the most lens to choose from

nice shot bro, wads the setup?

Thx.

Sony A7r , 16-35 f4, 24-105 f4,
For food 50mm macro.

Used to carry heavy f2.8 zooms and multiple primes donkey years ago..

Nowadays I appreciate the smaller lighter more compact f4 zooms.

I look awful on iPhone and I feel that the resolution is poor. We also tend to forget about the images we take on phone cameras. I can at least save the DSLR images on sd cards.
I used iCloud to sync and put those pics I like as fav so won’t forget.

my earlier two trips here are entirely shot on handphones, one using iPhone se3 and one on 15 pro. It is not undoable but pictures tends to be flat and dof mostly limited

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/gpgt-a-trip-to-north-kyushu.6994975/

so in the end I re-invested to see if I can tolerate the weight and switches back to lighter mirrorless. To be honest, the ultra wide for iPhone 15 pro on good daylight isn’t bad at all to my untrained eyes.

Why so many Sony mirrorless users? Have you all used Canon or Nikon before? I saw Sony images but was not very impressed.

I do not know how demanding u r on the images, and perhaps I’m not (which is why I made do with hand phones on a few trips).

to me, there are many things beyond just pixel creeping, and even the enjoyment of the trip outside of the photo. If I dun take a good shot, I treat it as a learning practice to improve my eyes

I’m pretty sure all brands have their top end lens but how heavy do u want to lug around?

I think many users on Sony is because of their autofocus and video capabilities (for those doing contents creation) and a lot more lens to choose from.

To be honest, at the rate that photography is dying nowadays, i dun even know if canon and nikon can survive the next 5-10 years if they have limited lens and development. At least I know Sony is doing ok now and won’t die so fast

S23 ultra 50mp is actually pretty impressive. Can compare to a lot of professional cameras. Only issue is zoom sucks.

My Panasonic Lx7 camera bought 10 yrs ago seem to take better photos than my phones. But battery died, probably has mould. Likely cannot use liao

I think a compact camera is more practical, best is can sync to cloud or pc automatically.

Last time go korea bring 1 those camera before it really spent time to take photo with that.
It bulky also so travelling together may no convenience compare to bring a gd camera mobile phone.

Sony has the best AF in the market. AF very impt when u bring around for travelling. and the lens choice is chef kiss. Sony image and colour improved alot compared to 10 years ago already. Now the choice between the brands are more of lens motivated

I don’t pixel creep but as long as a picture is out of focus, it is as good as gone. I find DSLR pics very sharp compared to hp pics.

It’s also the colours and the naturalness of the pics. Hp tends to emphasise the wrong things and make people less flattering.
