thanks for ur advice , alternatively , will MyRepublic 10GBPS using TP-Link Archer BE805 , 2nd TP-Link Archer BE805 node i can use back my CAT 8 cable to plug into my PC?
for PC wise , how to maximise this 10gbps?

Desktop PC: get a PCI-E 10Gbe adapter
Laptop or Mac: get a USB4/TB3 or TB3 to 10Gbe network adapter.

Search this thread and 10G thread for some 10G adapters recommended.

It will not benefit the users.
Agreed. Not much of a benefit as the chance of you utilizing all 3Gbps worth of data at any one time is almost slim to none.
Only reason I re-contracted from my VQ 1Gbps plan to the 3Gbps one is because the 3Gbps one will be cheaper than my 1Gbps plan that I am currently on.

So from paying $403.08 per year (or $33.59 per month) for my 1Gbps plan to...
$376.08 per year (or $31.34 per month) for the 3Gbps plan.

So you pay less and get more bandwidth. No loss in that. Thus the upgrade. It will be foolish not to do so. I am currently out of contract anyways since the recent pricing of the newer 1Gbps plans were worst than my old 1Gbps plan's pricing until the recent announcements of the 3,5 and 10Gbps plans with the 3Gbps plan actually being cheaper.

If you use your account portal to recontract, it's actually just $31.34 per month for the 3Gbps 2-year contract when you pay an annual price of $376.08.
Cos you'll get $26 off for 12 months instead of what you see on the main website and $32 off for 12 months for the 5Gbps and 10Gbps plans. And an extra 2% discount off the bill if you pay annually. Thus, my final price of $376.08 annually which is equivalent to $31.34 per month.

That is very decent pricing, even compared to M1/Starhub 500Mbps at S$30.45 per month. Nice one.

Let's see if other ISPs (ST, SH, MR and M1, not WC or SIMBA) reduce the pricing of 2Gbps/2.5Gbps/5Gbps to compete with VQ's 3Gbps plan.

I still hope M1 will replace the dual 1+1 Plan with a true 2.5Gbps plan, or come out its own 3Gbps and 5Gbps plan.

butt itchy feel like signing up VQ 3Gbps

Go ahead and then tell us how it goes. At S$35 per month for new sign-up, plus a bit for the IPv4 Add-on, the total price is still okay, even if compared to your current M1 1Gbps plan.

But you lose IPv6 in this case.

i poke them asking about ipv6 first, see how they respond.

might still sign as backup service.

I just hope them adopting xgspon AND allowing people to use their own devices instead of locking customers to ONT /ONR would open the doors for the big 3 to consider doing something similar :<

For ONT, it is not really locking you to anything, you can use your own router to its full ability.

SFP+ hands-off is really a niche use case. And even in the case of VQ, it still sells you the XGS-PON ONU in a stick format. S$99 is really cheap already for an XGS-PON stick. But I guess some people may want to use their own setup even further without using that. I think there will be people who are able to figure that out in the future (most likely quite a bit more expensive than S$99).

Would be nice to have direct fiber to router. If it supports UDM SE i suppose they are willing to entertain customers with custom setups?
Or maybe its a potential tech support nightmare.

For me I rather have more control on what is my equipment vs what they provide. See all the nonsense they've done with their included routers and one etcetc. If they control and can gaodin my exp or help troubleshoot issues I maybe would be okay with that but heck their service is mostly hands off subpar most of the time, then what for let them control equipment

Reference: you may contact VQ for more details.

Existing customers with three months or less remaining on their contract can renew for another 24 months to enjoy the ViewQwest X services. Customers not eligible for re-contract can take advantage of the Speed Upgrade promo, regardless of their current plan. They can top up +$3.27/month for 3Gbps, +$6.54/month for 5Gbps, and +$13.08/month for 10Gbps speed boosts, with a minimum commitment period of 12 months.

It is not very clear to me how VQ uses UDM SE from the website -- whether they bundle the Huawei OptixStar S800E XGS-PON ONU with the UDM SE or not. If not, then what kind of SFP+ modules they will support?
https://viewqwest.com/sg/residential/broadband/

From the following article, it seems to me more likely they are bundling the Huawei XGS-PON ONU with UDM SE. Let's wait for the confirmation.

I just searched online and got this:

"As of June 2024, SH has fully deployed the new 10G PON equipment across its fiber-optic network, enabling its customers to enjoy speeds of up to 10 Gbps. The upgrade covers all areas where SH's fiber-optic network is available, which includes major towns and cities in Singapore."

However many of us are still having slow speed during Peak Hours. I think those affected users should complain loud to SH. Something is not right.

That just means the front end Access Network (XGS-PON ONT/ONR for the customer, OLT equipment, etc) is ready. They still need to upgrade their backend network equipment.
