Actual media should have a report or documentary about the type of heart conditions that lead to cardiac arrest so that it could bring awareness to the public.
Yeah well, somehow it will still get twisted to present their own version of the truth by these nutjobs.

Good that you found out. Take care of health. People with heart problems (i.e. valve, hole, chamber, ventricular) cannot overwork. Feeling tired easily is a symptom. I used to have a good friend who was in the clerk vocation (while I was in combat vocation) during my NSF days. When my platoon went for BBQ at East Coast Park we invited him because his personality's quite cool and funny. When we took off our shirts to go into the water, we were shocked to see that he had a big surgery scar on his chest - a vertical line down the centre. I said, "Wtf... What happened to you?" All of us were stunned. "We swim later", I said, and we sat down and ate and drank and listened to his story. The surgery was to patch a hole in his heart (found out during poly time because he kept feeling tired and breathless while running). The doc told him in layman terms, we are going to stop your heart, put you on the artificial heart machine, then we take out the heart, patch the hole, and put it back. After hearing that he couldn't sleep well for days. Imagine a 17 year old boy having to go through this. If anything bad happened he could die on the surgery bed. Therefore after the surgery and he got well again, his mindset and personality changed. I have not contacted him for a while now, same age as me 52yo, last saw him in Bugis when he was shopping with his wife and kids. We went for coffee at Sim Lim Sq basement, wow found out he's an architect. Then I recalled he studied architecture diploma back then. So after NSF he went to Scotland to get an architecture degree. Then drove me to the MRT station in his large BMW and before I got down he passed me his namecard - now a boss already.

Well sometimes in life there is a certain aspect of luck in it. After you go through a large barrier in life, you won't know, a new prosperous life awaits you. You have to see positive.
Good share
A positive story

That's why I think everyday I wake up seeing my children is a bonus.

If edmwers have any girl-next-door you fancy, just ask her out, hesitate no more, time awaits no one. Don't live to regret what you did not do.

The only thing I felt ok was that, I brought all my kids to see my parents before they passed on... The least I could do.
bbfa need to go for health check up first
please don't sabo the innocent lady

Had my open heart surgery for mitral valve replacement a month ago. Recovering now. Doc said I have 1 year to get it replaced before risk of failure is too high.

Had the valve repaired 11 years ago but because of viral infection and endocarditis in Nov last year, repair was totally damaged.

Listen to the docs advise. If you need to go for surgery, get it done quickly. We have the best surgeons here.
Where did u get yours done?
Speedy recovery

Every operation have a risk.
Patient refuses to do.
Like my mum, Drs ask her to go for neck operation cause she has severe blockage . If stroke hits her, it would be immediately fatal. She just refuses to do. Counting down for her time
It's especially scary for heart and brain surgery. Just imagine if anything went wrong you'll probably never wake up again. Just thinking of this is a scary thing

When I saw him in coffin n his family.....it made me wan to hug n treasure my family even more. Hubby accompanied to the wake. He is so thoughtful. When I texted him that a friend of mine passed away, he immediately said he would accompany me as I have fractured my foot n just performed a foot operation.

Wife said anything about his kids, everything he would take good care of it. Never let his wife worried. Kids check up n school , he would handle it himself.
Now she will have to worry about all these liao in his absence. Abit sad reality for the wife.

Yes. Family first, this is something many edmwers never learn to appreciate. The love from their parents are unconditional and given to them from their birth. Guess we really need to have a family and children of our own before we cherish our family more, or when people started loosing their closest family members, will they learn the importance of family, wife and children. Not everyday about money, sex and computer games or Europe holiday twice per year or their expensive mixed vegetable rice or some fancy fastfood.

If severe enough to be asked to go surgery, don't do the surgery have much more risk than the risk if the surgery. Your friend is educated one or what?

Not saying TS friend, but some people really have fear of post surgery complications.

Like what if it didn’t go well and become vegetable lying in hospital, bleeding money daily, and now pass the difficult decision of pulling the plug to our loved ones.
