GPON stick -- Huawei MA5671A、Nokia G-010S-A, Alcatel G-010S-P are said to be compatible with the SFP+ port of Asus RT-BE88U.

The following is from a Chinese Youtuber, just for reference only as local ISPs will have different info to copy from the ONT/ONR to the GPON Stick.

GPON stick may be hot though.
Alcartel G-010S-P --> 1.64W (now part of Nokia)
Nokia G-010S-A --> 1.64W
Huawei MA5671A --> 1.64W
ODI DFP-34X-2C2 --> 2.28 W

Wow a lot of info here. Thanks Xiaofan.

So can confirm latest news is that Nokia G-240G-E still cannot be bridged?

How reliable is GPON replacement of the ONR?

I'm actually thinking of changing from MR to WC (because I want to keep a digital voice line, and Simba doesn't have digital voice support) to save subscription fee.

Was told by WC CSO that they are using Nokia G-240G-E, and do not support bridging.

I have an excellent mesh system set up at home right now, don't want to use their stupid ONR routing. Even DMZ is not preferable as their ONR routing will still be the weak link (e.g. if the traffic is so great that the ONR slows down or crashes first).

As of now, no real successful story of Nokia ONR bridging.

Not so sure if @blurnad has the success or not.

However, Nokia ONR can be bridged for sure, at least Singtel could do that last time when they did support ONR bridging (they stopped to entertain such bridging requests for quite some time). But at that time, the bridging is for 1Gbps customers, one port bridged for internet, the other three ports are not bridged and only can connect to SingTel TV box (not for Internet).

Then again SingTel got the 1+1 Gamer plan as well, where the ONR Port 4 is officially bridged to connect to the bundled RT-AX86U router. The other three ports are not bridged, for both Internet and SingTel TV box.

Thanks for the info.

I note that you are also keeping up with the various ISPs.

I'm currently on MR (which is quite smooth, CGNAT aside).

What is your opinion of an MR > WC jump? How's throttling at WC side?

I will suggest you stay with MR in this case.

Successful story from the WC thread.

Reference for the Nokia G240 GPON ONR.
1) Configure the GPON ONR in ONT mode.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...band-provider.5494964/page-115#post-153190390

Good News, I manage to bridge the Nokia G-240G-E. We should do the bridge in WAN Section like below:
T6gCPbf.png

Once we setup the brigde in WAN, the bridge in LAN is missing.
QoYu00s.png

Now the other port does not able to connect to internet except port 1.
Next step is to try out dual bridge port to AX86U in dual WAN load balance,
but now i don't have any device to see the max speed.

2) Configure the GPON ONR in another mode where he can get two IPv4 addresses.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...band-provider.5494964/page-115#post-153223908

:giggle:Yeah, I manage to make the Dual WAN work by changing the another WAN2 Mac address to other than WAN1. The Nokia must reboot in oder to get both WAN detect public IP(it's take some time for it to get IP).

Here is some speed test using asus router build-in tools(stupid me ... should had know this).

Speed test show good result, but actual real use seem not the case.

Success story of using GPON stick to replace Singtel ONR.

Just tested my new toys. Nokia G-010S-A + Media converter from Taobao.
OkKz3fS.jpeg

Change my NIC to static IP and here is the main page for GPON Stick:
NKGD78e.png

I only setup GPON SN, PLOAM Password & VLAN ID.
KpLiHbJ.png

I also key in the Mac address that show on label:
QYd56Ud.png

Save and reboot.... Once done the reboot i can see the status become "5".
change my NIC back to DHCP, and after awhile it show public IP and there is internet.
Plug the cable back to my router and reboot my router.
Boom... Success!

The only downside for this is the GPON Stick is super hot!!!! o_O
Need to find big heatsink for it!!

More info about Nokia G240 ONR super-admin login info -- please try the following, which is similar to ZTE F620 ONR.

Username: support
Password: the password printed on ONR label but need to input in reverse order.

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...the-difference.5768534/page-12#post-153330977
Oh I thought the login password is given to user by default, since I requested during ONR installation and SingTel installation technician shared it with me.

From my case,
Username: support
Password: the password printed on ONR label but need to input in reverse order.

You may test but not sure if it works on your ONR.

Initially I did try set LAN port to bridge mode but it didn’t work, then I realised that I need to create a new connection in WAN setting in bridge mode and assign the bridge connection to a LAN port, in my case I assigned LAN port 4.

There is risk if you setup wrongly. In my 1st trial I set all 4 LAN ports to bridge mode but after that I found I was blocked out from the ONR and no longer able to access login page via 192.168.1.254 on any LAN port and no internet access as well. After that I did hard reset the ONR by reset button, the internet is back under normal ONR mode, but digital line gone. I called the installation guy and asked him guided me setup digital line, then I tried to bridge the ONR in WAN setting as above mentioned and finally got it work.

I will terminate SingTel 1Gbps plan next week and move to M1 1+1Gbps plan. As you know SingTel ONR is not friendly to power users.

Any XGS-PON sticks that work with starhub 5 gbps?

No one has tried to use XGS-PON Stick/ONU to replace Starhub/SingTel XGS-PON ONR due to the high cost of such ONU.

This is unlike the cheap GPON stick/ONU where you can easily get from Taobao.

Edit to add:
1) I tend to believe VQ issued Huawei XGS-PON stick (S$99 top up price for VQ 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps subscribers) will work with other ISPs as well with proper settings. The list price is at S$300 from VQ e-Store. Not so sure where else you can get it and how much it will cost.

2) VSOL V2905H is at RMB 599 plus GST and shipment, no idea it will work or not.

A forum user mentions the following XGS-PON ONU which is of reasonaly low cost from Taobao.
https://www.hisensebroadband.com/html/products/xgpon_xgspon/20190731_246.html

Taobao price is at about RMB 290 but they are all Huawei brand. Maybe Hisense is the OEM.

One link -- there are some other links selling at similar price.

Even have the xgspon onu, nowadays the password also super complicated. No longer can find online. Unless someone leaks it

As hinted on XGS-PON WAS-110 SFP+ SFU , might be able to get away in Masquerade mode which requires only PON Serial Number (ONT ID) , Equipment ID , and Hardware Version...etc which these info usually available in ONT/ONR label and webui.

Chance upon this threads..

For SH 10gb broadband, they are either giving ONT * Tp link router OR a Nokia ONR.

Question :
For those whose package will give the Nokia ONR, did you manage to get an ONT instead?.
If stick with the Nokia ONR, will it be easy to bridge it to my Asus Router?

thanks in advance!!

1) It is said that you need to go to the shop and ask for the ONT option. Cheapest is S$45 per month Starhub 5Gbps plan. There is a special offer S$29.55 per month Starhub 5Gbps promotion which Starhub does not allow to change to ONT.

BTW, unless you need EPL, no point to go with Starhub 10Gbps plan, just go with 5Gbps plan will do.

2) Practially speaking it is not possible to bridge the Nokia ONR now that Starhub SOP does not allow the installer to share the one time super-admin password. If you want to take risk, just go ahead...

yeah i had already signed some sports and EPL package with them… so i can only opt for the 10GB package which cost $45 first year and $88 the next but it seems this package only give the nokia onr… for now.
