I am on SH 10Gbps and my setup is as follows:Is anyone using the ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 with dual 10gbps wan/lan ports here? My M1 1gbps plan is coming to the end of the contract, I am planning to switch to Simba's 10gbps (really cheap compared to the rest).
Want to check if any folks here using the above router. I have an existing Wi-Fi mesh setup using Asus routers with LAN connected to all these nodes. I am planning to retain the same setup, but maybe tweak it a little so that my home office can get the full 10gbps benefits from the plan.
What I am thinking:
1) Replace the existing RT-AX88U in the store room (where the fiber terminal is) with AXE16000, and utilize one of its 10gbps ports as WAN to SIMBA equipment (hopefully it's an ONT). The next 10gbps port to connect through LAN to my home office outlet, and the remaining 4 1Gbps LAN ports to the existing Asus routers in the room via the existing LAN outlets.
2) Add a 10Gbps Switch in the home office to connect to the LAN outlet which connects to the 10gbps on AXE16000. Connect the laptop with 10gbps NIC (hopefully there is a usb4 or thunderbolt version), and the remaining equipment (another AX router and 1 NAS) to the same switch.
Will the above work? Any possibility that the LAN cable laid within the wall (I have no idea what CAT they are as I bought a resale) doesn't support the 10gbps connection?
Thanks bros in advance for the advice![]()
TP>ONT>AXE16000 10Gbps WAN port>10 Gbps managed switch> multiple XT8 mesh units with wired backhaul
TP>ONT>AXE16000 10Gbps WAN port>10 Gbps managed switch> multiple 10 Gbps managed switches > multiple 10gbps and 1 Gbps wired devices
The network works great with expected speeds (except SH peak DL is about 4 Gbps on average). All my cabling is CAT6.
One problem I do not have the expertise to fix- the Guest network does not work as all the mesh units are connected with a switch in the middle. Need to download beta software for the AXE16000 which has not been updated for some 18 months and set up a vlan at the router and the switch for the mesh units- sadly beyond my technical capabilities even if the beta software was up to date.
